Job Description - Project Manager / Estimator III - Professional Development Opportunities

The Senior Estimator-Project Manager sells and manages commercial construction projects, which include cost estimation and pricing. He or she develops excellent connections with new and existing clients, consistently sells and negotiates successful projects, and manages the project team to ensure that projects are completed in collaboration with the General Contractor and in accordance with the Owner's vision. He or she also develops relationships with vendors and other partners, and serves as the primary point of contact for issue escalation. Honesty, great communication and organizational abilities, a desire for outcomes, a willingness to grow others, and the capacity to foster a culture of cooperation are all essential for his or her success. Customers perceive the Sr. Estimator-Project Manager as a subject matter expert inside the client his or her expertise.

Business Development

  • Identifies and pursues target customers and initiatives that correspond with the client's goals.
  • Identifies and seizes business possibilities that result in win-win outcomes for the client and customer.
  • Influences suggestions, project scope, decision criteria, timetable, and so on to best position Client and customer for win-win results.
  • Creates innovative ideas to negotiate and create value (value engineering, packing several client deals, etc.).
  • Establishes and maintains an active market presence (via contacts, appropriate association engagement, events, seminars, customer events and meetings, etc.).
  • Develops and maintains tight, trusted connections with both present and future customers, even when there is no active project.


Cost Estimating

  • Manages time and ability to provide an on-time bid.
  • Review the design, drawings, and specifications, and organize visits to the construction site to take note of geographic factors, site access, logistics for material staging, and so on.
  • Cultivates knowledge about the market and project, including the competitive landscape, and uses it to properly price and compete for business.
  • collaborates extensively with possible suppliers, manufacturers, and subcontractors on quotations.
  • Forecasts the impact of important variables on productivity and the bottom line.
  • Capable of efficiently bundling clients' products and services to gain a commercial advantage.

  • Effectively analyzes and prioritizes chances to bid, both present and prospective; is aware of projects on the horizon and understands which ones to bid on.
  • Effectively transfers project knowledge acquired during estimating and bidding phases to production team, including both project manager and field leadership


Project Management

  • Engages with the client project team in strategic pre-con meetings (or series of pre-con meetings) to plan work, identify and address possible scope, schedule, sequence, contract, budget, material staging, or manpower difficulties, and design suitable cost code structure; skilled facilitator of pre-con
  • Is consistently present on the work to support the client field team and successfully handle safety, financial, and quality-impact concerns with the GC.
  • Develops and obtains customer agreement on a timetable of values that guarantees the project is funded correctly and preempts hazardous cost problems at the conclusion of the task.
  • Proactively seeks possibilities in scheduling and sequencing to save expenses while providing excellent service.
  • Expertly collaborates with field leaders and customers throughout the pre-job planning phase to position the project for optimal success.
  • Confronts the client with concerns about safety, cost, production, or quality, proposing options that lead to a good conclusion.
  • Effectively records customer agreements using the RFI and/or change order procedure.

Job Requirements

Education
  • High School Diploma/GED with equivalent work experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or related field of study a plus



Experience

  • Experience in Fabric Panel with 5+ years of commercial construction sector sales, estimating, and project management, particularly in general contracting and interiors.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with different estimating, scheduling, and/or project management technologies.
  • Proven track record of acquiring new clients and selling projects to both new and current customers; field experience is preferred.
