Job Title: TEMPORARY Purchasing Agent

Temp Duration: 2-3 months

Pay Rate: up to $30.00/hour, depending on experience

Job Schedule: Day shift, on-site, Monday to Friday

Job Responsibilities:

Serve as an integral part of the plant manufacturing team. Performs a variety of clerical and administrative duties for the facility including purchasing of general consumables as required to maintain a constant flow of materials and supplies to various departments such as Production, Packaging, Warehouse, and Office.

Essential Functions:

Purchases materials, supplies and inventory items following established guidelines and procedures set forth by management. Orders all plant consumables and manages inventory levels. Orders manufacturing items and coordinates outside vendors.

  • Packaging inventory levels at PMC Warehouses and Supplier
    • Order Boxes for daily deliveries according to the schedule
    • Monitor Tote inventory for a 2-week safety stock
    • Issue orders for Totes 4-weeks in advance
    • Order cartons for a 90-day inventory at the supplier
    • Release cartons for delivery according to the schedule
    • Monitor FS Film inventory levels to ensure 6-weeks minimum stock at FL Warehouses
    • Order FS film, both plain and printed, to ensure stock levels are maintained
  • Minor ingredient inventory to maintain stock to meet the schedule
    • Order Minor ingredients for a 6-week plant stock
  • Supplier conformance and performance
    • Communicate with FL Packaging Team on all packaging quality issues
    • Issue SNCR's for any packaging put on hold for a quality issue
    • Monitor and ensure credit is issued and disposition of the bad packaging is communicated to our warehouse team.
    • Issue CAR's for major noncompliance quality issues with packaging.
    • Continually assess risk with all packaging suppliers to ensure PMC/Zerega is situated the best way possible.
    • Notify the supplier if their performance is not as agreed and determine if the business needs to be moved to another supplier if the risk is too great to overcome otherwise
  • Internal Communications
    • Communicate with the Warehouse Team on all deliveries
    • Coordinate with the warehouse all packaging returns from our outside warehouse when called for on our schedule
    • Coordinate all packaging movement to the outside warehouse due to excessive inventory brought in before schedule changes or due to aging at our suppliers
    • Communicate with the warehouse team when the inventory reporting has packaging in locations it should not be or quantities shown in the system are not accurate
    • Daily communications with the Warehouse Manager concerning packaging and minor ingredient inventory
    • Approve packaging movement to other plants and coordinate with the warehouse and receiving plant as needed
    • Work with our scheduler on packaging inventory issues on a daily basis

Essential Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related area required or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in logistics, supply chain, procurement, or operations management a plus.
  • Experience with ERP / WMS systems. Previous experience with Infor M3 a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously.
  • High level of problem solving as well as critical thinking skills required.
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal skills with ability to develop and foster effective cross-functional relationships.
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel.
  • Ability to work in production and warehouse environment and tolerate plant/warehouse environmental conditions.
