Job Description - CNC Programmer

CNC Programmer (Job 134-523)
Position Summary & Purpose: Supports Manufacturing and Manufacturing Engineering in the processing of CINCINNATI’s products through assigned manufacturing processes and CNC Equipment.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Process manufacturing orders that require CNC Programming utilizing the current CAM and CAD tools (i.e. Mastercam and Solid Edge) established for that CNC Equipment.
  • Utilize and/or determine work holding requirements for part/parts programming on specified CNC Equipment.
  • Fulfill all documentation requirements as required (i.e. Setup Sketches, Mac/Pac part status and routing, Tool Lists, Machine Program, Status Report)
  • Interface with Engineering for clarification, correction, or requested changes (finish, tolerance, or design) as needed to reliably manufacture the part
  • Interface with others outside the department throughout the organization as needed to resolve any limitations on machining of parts and offer improvement suggestions to reduce cost, improve thru-put, and/or improve product quality.
  • Involved in workload programming, re-programming, or process improvement projects.
  • Perform any of above autonomously or with others as deemed necessary by supervision.
  • Run CNC Equipment to prove out programs as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalency
  • Experience programming and running N/C Lathes, Vertical Machining Centers, and/or Horizontal Machining Centers.
  • 3D CAM based programming; Mastercam X preferred, EdgeCAM beneficial
  • Strong mechanical and manufacturing aptitude.
  • Understand, interpret, and edit machine program code (i.e. Fanuc M&G codes)
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical Engineering Drawings, including GD&T Tolerancing.
  • Understand specific manufacturing processes, machining practices and methods, and related tooling and materials used to produce product across assigned CNC Equipment.
  • Strong computer, visualization, and communication (personal and technical) skills related to field
  • Ability to listen and understand others both inside and outside department.
  • Stays focused and productive throughout the workday.
  • Willing and able to see an assignment thru in a timely manner, recognizing needs of others, production, and CINCINNATI’s customers.
  • Perform all duties in a safe and productive manner, including to oneself and others, and equipment.

  • Associates Degree in Manufacturing Technologies preferred but not required
