Job Description - Machine Operator All Levels - $17.00 - $30.00 an hour

Machine Operator I

Assist with set-up and operate high-speed process equipment. Operate different machines, and ensure the equipment is working efficiently and producing quality products

Day-to-Day Role:

  • Follow and commit to meet Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for safety, quality, production, efficiency, and service requirements
  • Follow practices and processes intended to provide safe products that comply with appropriate laws and regulations, meet the company quality standards
  • Follow and commit to safety and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)
  • Assist with setting-up, starting, adjusting, diagnosing, troubleshooting and properly shutting down process equipment in accordance with published production schedules and product specifications.
  • Assist with process machinery from raw materials through downstream finished goods
  • Perform general preventative maintenance on equipment (i.e. fill lube lines, lube chain rails, grease guns, etc.) as required
  • Maintain production logs and reports as required
  • Promptly notify the Maintenance Department of any maintenance required
  • Notify supervisor of significant deviations from normal operating conditions
  • Perfom back-up Inspector Packer responsibilities during break and lunch periods
  • Perform production process in SAP as required

Core Skills and Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:

  • Math skills to include simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • Familiar with and ability to convert decimals to fractions or vice versa
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic problems including knowledge of machines and tools, their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Ability to observe, follow, understand, and evaluate processes demonstrated and other workplace procedures
  • Demonstration of minimum proficiency with the English language in order to ensure effective new hire training and on-going communications about safety and quality issues
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Six (6) months material handling or machine operations experience
  • Technical school or apprenticeship experience
  • Previous powered industrial truck experience


Machine Operator II

Set-up and operate high-speed process equipment. Operate multiple machines, and ensure the equipment is working efficiently and producing quality products.

Day-to-Day Role:

  • Follow and commit to meet Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for safety, quality, production, efficiency, and service requirements
  • Follow practices and processes intended to provide safe products that comply with appropriate laws and regulations, meet the company quality standards
  • Follow and commit to safety and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)
  • Set up, start, adjust, test, calibrate, operate, diagnose, troubleshoot and properly shut down process equipment in accordance with published production schedules and product specifications.
  • Set up and operate computer-controlled machines or robots to control one or more machine functions
  • Operate and monitor process machinery from raw materials through downstream finished goods, ensuring quality and consistency
  • Adjust equipment as needed to maximize up time, rates and yields
  • Monitor equipment for mechanical problems by listening for unusual noises and visually checking gears, hoses, gauges, materials, etc.
  • Troubleshoot and fix equipment and/or material problems
  • Diagnose and change out defective parts
  • Use advanced measuring equipment such as micrometers, scales, scanners
  • Implement programs to standardize and minimize production changeovers and machine downtime
  • Perform general preventative maintenance on equipment (i.e. fill lube lines, lube chain rails, grease guns, etc.)
  • Maintain production logs and reports as required
  • Promptly notify the Maintenance Department of any maintenance required
  • Notify supervisor of significant deviations from normal operating conditions

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Previous powered industrial truck experience
  • Paper converting, chemical/plastics processing and/or packaging industrial experience
  • Previous plant production software experience required; SAP experience


Machine Operator III

Set-up and operate multiple, specialized high-speed process equipment within an inline process to ensure the equipment is working efficiently and producing quality products.

Day-to-Day Role:

  • Follow and commit to meet Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for safety, quality, production, efficiency, and service requirements
  • Follow practices and processes intended to provide safe products that comply with appropriate laws and regulations, meet the company quality standards
  • Follow and commit to safety and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)
  • Set up, start, adjust, test, calibrate, operate, diagnose, troubleshoot and properly shut down process specialized equipment in accordance with published production schedules and product specifications.
  • Set up, operate and monitor specialized computer controlled or robot process machinery (i.e. thermoforming, extrusion, press, injection molding, etc.) from raw materials through downstream finished goods, ensuring quality and consistency
  • Adjust equipment as needed to maximize up time, rates and yields
  • Monitor equipment for mechanical problems by listening for unusual noises and visually checking gears, hoses, gauges, materials, etc.
  • Troubleshoot and fix complex equipment and/or material problems
  • Diagnose and change out defective parts
  • May assist with changeovers and mold changes
  • Use advanced measuring equipment such as micrometers, scales, scanners
  • Implement programs to standardize and minimize production changeovers and machine downtime
  • Perform general preventative maintenance on equipment (i.e. fill lube lines, lube chain rails, grease guns, etc.)
  • Maintain production logs and reports as required
  • Promptly notify the Maintenance Department of any maintenance required
  • Notify supervisor of significant deviations from normal operating conditions
  • Serve as a technical resource for less experienced operators
  • Train other Machine Operators as required
  • Perform production process in SAP as required

  • Three (3) years of experience operating manufacturing and process control equipment or equivalent technical school or apprentice experience
  • Advanced knowledge of machines and material processes
  • Math skills to include simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • Familiar with and ability to convert decimals to fractions or vice versa
  • Advanced mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot complex problems including knowledge of machines and tools, their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret blueprints
  • Ability to observe, follow, understand, and evaluate processes demonstrated and other workplace procedures
  • Demonstration of minimum proficiency with the English language in order to ensure effective new hire training and on-going communications about safety and quality issues
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
  • Five (5) years’ experience operating manufacturing and process control equipment or equivalent technical school or apprentice experience
  • Previous powered industrial truck experience
  • Previous plant production software experience required, SAP experience


Machine Operator IV

Applies advanced machine operating expertise to set-up and operate multiple, specialized high-speed process equipment within an inline process to ensure the equipment is working efficiently and producing quality products. Can operate most or all machines within the plant.

Day-to-Day Role:

  • Follow and commit to meet Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for safety, quality, production, efficiency, and service requirements
  • Follow practices and processes intended to provide safe products that comply with appropriate laws and regulations, meet the company quality standards
  • Follow and commit to safety and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)
  • Set up, start, adjust, test, calibrate, operate, diagnose, troubleshoot and properly shut down process specialized equipment in accordance with published production schedules and product specifications.

  • Complete root cause analysis and recommend solutions
  • Recommend work procedures, evaluate experimental procedures, and recommend changes or modifications for improved efficiency and adaptability to setup and production
  • Apply advanced, complex troubleshooting
  • Lead process improvement initiatives and/or cross functional team projects
  • Fill in for Lead Machine Operator as needed
  • Train other Machine Operators as required
  • Perform production process in SAP as required

Core Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:

  • Eight (8) years of experience operating manufacturing and process control equipment or equivalent technical school or apprentice experience
  • Expert knowledge operating specialist machines
  • Expert knowledge of and ability to lead machine and material processes
  • Proficient in interfacing with computers and in problem solving
  • Excellent verbal and written skills necessary in order to communicate intricate job-related processes
  • Math skills to include simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • Familiar with and ability to convert decimals to fractions or vice versa
  • Advanced mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot complex problems including knowledge of machines and tools, their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret blueprints
  • Organizational skills including the ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines
  • Ability to effectively manage and execute multiple tasks, projects and priorities
  • Ability to utilize and train employees on technology, processes and procedures
  • Ability to observe, follow, understand, and evaluate processes demonstrated and other workplace procedures
  • Demonstration of minimum proficiency with the English language in order to ensure effective new hire training and on-going communications about safety and quality issues
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
  • Previous powered industrial truck experience
