You might be the Controller Robert Half is looking for, if you want to have broad business engagement and impact with a business in the Construction/Contractor field. We're looking for Controller candidates who can manage the process to ensure that models are correct and are fully accrued each month, verify and hold the operations team accountable to ensure end to end incentive processing, payments, accounting and related financial controls are operating effectively. Based in Lanham, Maryland, this Controller position will be a long-term contract / temporary engagement. How you will make an impact
- Evaluate and observe controls to ensure they are designed and operating effectively in partnership with compliance
- Lead budgeting, forecasting and reporting processes and tools for the accountable programs
- Assemble evidence and qualitative discussion of monthly financial results across global programs to support SOX controls
- Ensure timely cash flow forecasts by collaboration with the Treasury
- Collaborate with various business partners for various program controllership and FP& A activities such as ensuring accrual models are accurate and accounting methods are appropriate, as well as true-up activities and answer queries from business, area and subsidiary controllers
- Reach understanding of key financial results and movements across programs to summarize and discuss with key business partners
- Continuous review of actual spend against budget and lead necessary actions needed for any expected shortfalls
- Obtain understanding of key financial results and movements across programs to summarize and discuss with key business partners- Working knowledge of ERP system
- Strong analytical skills with ability to implement solutions and vendor management experience with good organizational skills
- Skills to assess process and internal control weaknesses and identify improvements
- Professional accounting and controllership or public accounting and internal controls experience and/or Internal Audit or Controls and Compliance
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or other relevant field
- CPA and/or CMA preferred
- Revenue recognition experience required
- Solid understanding of Sage 300
- Strong familiarity with revenue recognition
- Foundational knowledge in Construction Accounting
- Aptitude for communication and negotiation, building trusted advisor/consultant relationships and influencing Executives and Business Decision Makers
- Advanced knowledge in office and accounting computer systems
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership across finance team by engaging with different groups around the world via virtual communication
