Position Overview

The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire a Business Manager for the Shapiro Center located in Kankakee, Illinois to perform managerial duties in the administration of the facility’s Support Services, Campus Delivery, Transportation/Switchboard, Campus Maintenance and Storehouse departments. Serves as working supervisor. Plans, directs and supervises the activities of staff assigned to those departments. Evaluates resources and prepares purchase orders for food and supplies for the facility.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Performs managerial duties in the administration of the facility’s Support Services, Campus Delivery, Transportation/Switchboard, Campus Maintenance and Storehouse departments.

  2. Serves as working supervisor.

  3. Reviews, recommends, and implements procedures and policies for effective operation.

  4. Coordinates transportation fleet.

  5. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  1.   Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college with a major in business administration or a related field. 

  2. Requires two (2) years professional business experience such as might be obtained as a Business Administrative Specialist or successful completion of a training course approved by the agency.  

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Two (2) years of professional experience in procurement for a public or private organization.

  2. Two (2) years of professional experience planning and directing fiscal and business services.

  3. Two (2) years of professional experience recommending and implementing procedures and policies for a public or private organization.

  4. Two (2) years of professional experience directing and scheduling delivery and distribution of equipment and supplies.

  5. Two (2) years of professional experience analyzing a variety of accounting data and creating reports.

  6. Two (2) years of professional experience communicating effectively both verbally and in writing to a large variety of people.

Conditions of Employment

  1. Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.

  2. Requires the ability to work after business hours, weekends and holidays.

  3. Requires the ability to travel in the performance of job duties.

  4. Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.

  5. Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
