Job Description

This is a great opportunity to join a fast-growing and dynamic communications team at the world’s largest environmental sciences company! The Internal Communications Specialist position is responsible for the execution of employee campaigns that engage, align and inspire employees with Veolia North America’s vision and business goals.

This role supports a number of key initiatives including the company-wide intranet, sourcing, and writing content that tells the stories of our employees and communities. This role is responsible for the management and execution of the weekly employee e-newsletter, and functional announcements as needed. This important team player will work with a variety of stakeholders to design communications templates for internal stakeholders and support the customization as needed.

The internal communications specialist works closely with the members of the extended communications team to ensure integration and alignment including at times with parallel external programs.

  1. Support key projects across the corporate communications function focused on internal employee engagement. 

  2. Assist with the development of engaging content and distribution across communications channels. 

  3. Participate in cross-team and functional meetings to move projects forward. 

  4. Collaborate with the communications and marketing team to optimize content across channels.

  5. Develop and implement communication plans and timelines.

  6. Research and write content for the internal company website, infographics, blogs, and newsletters.

  7. Acquire and maintain a detailed knowledge of the company’s policies, principles, and strategies, and keep up-to-date with relevant developments.

  8. From time to time assist in arranging and coordinating internal corporate events.

  9. Adhere to the company’s style guide, ensuring that we produce a high-quality and error-free copy consistently across channels.

  10. Work with key internal role-players to brainstorm content ideas, in line with the company’s strategy and in support of various brand initiatives.

  11. Other duties.

Qualifications

Education / Experience / Background

  • 1-5 years of relevant experience.

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field (essential)

  • A minimum of 1 year experience in communications or writing development

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills. 

  • Works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines

  • Solid organizational and planning skills 

  • Familiarity with technology applications to support: internet story posting, weekly e-newsletter production, light video editing, content editing, metrics and social media channels: LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter

  • A well-developed creative and professional organizational capacity

  • Ability to consider and think comprehensively - within the context of a greater plan 

  • An eye for detail and desire to learn and grow in the role and contribute to the communications team and VNA as a whole. 

  • Highly computer literate with a capability to email, Google, MS Office and related business and communication tools.

  • Content writing experience.

  • Attention to detail.
