Job Description - Coordinator Intramural Sports and Sport Clubs

Definition of Class

This position coordinates and manages activities associated with various intramural sports and sport club’s programs that are sponsored and operated by the Department of Campus Recreation.

Examples of Work Performed

  • Creates, develops, and coordinates the planning and administration of intramural sports, sport clubs, and summer youth camp activities.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, schedules, supervises, and evaluates student employees, including graduate assistants and undergraduate students.
  • Develops co-curricular learning initiatives and leadership training opportunities for student employees.
  • Coordinates policies and procedures to ensure proper risk management practices.
  • Assists with the marketing and promotion of intramural sports, sport clubs, and summer youth camps.
  • Assists in scheduling the use of intramural sports and sport clubs indoor and outdoor activity spaces.
  • Coordinates intramural sports, sport clubs, and summer youth camp's equipment purchases and maintains an inventory of program supplies.
  • Conducts appropriate field equipment maintenance and upkeep for intramural sports and sport club’s facilities.
  • Makes recommendations concerning operational budgets.
  • Monitors expenditures for assigned programs.
  • Assists in establishing and implementing short-term and long-range objectives for the Department of Campus Recreation, including compilation of data and reporting of programmatic statistics, as well as assessment of student learning and program outcomes.
  • Represents the Department of Campus Recreation and The University of Mississippi on various committees, boards, and associations.
  • Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required.

Essential Functions

These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

  1. Coordinates activities associated with team and individual activities and programs for intramurals sports, sport clubs and summer youth camps.
  2. Performs personnel related functions including the recruitment, selection, training, scheduling, and evaluation of student employees.
  3. Assists with the scheduling and maintenance of intramural sports, sport club’s facilities and summer youth camp's facilities. 
  4. Assists in the development, implementation, and assessment of departmental goals and objectives.

Minimum Education/Experience

Education:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Leisure Management, Sports Management, Student Personnel Administration or related field from an accredited college or university.

AND

 

Experience:

One (1) year of experience related to the above described duties.

 

Certification: First Aid/CPR/AED certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire.

 

Substitution Statement: Related experience may be substituted for education, on a basis set forth and approved by the Department of Human Resources.
