Overview



Reporting to the Senior Instructional Designer in the McGraw Center for Teaching and Learning, the Course Materials Manager is the primary liaison between Princeton University and the online bookstore, as well as the primary point of contact at Princeton for faculty, staff, and students for book adoption and purchasing. As a member of McGrawâ™s Digital Learning and Design team, the Manager also supports digital pedagogy projects and the use of educational technology in teaching and learning more broadly.

The Course Materials Manager is the functional lead at Princeton for the online bookstore, and manages the integration of the bookstore with Princetonâ™s systems, working closely with other units on campus, including University Services, OITâ™s technical team, and the Office of the Registrar.

In collaboration with the online bookstore, and in partnership with the Office of Dean of the College and the Office of Communication, the Manager oversees communication and marketing. The Manager coordinates the analysis and presentation of adoption and purchasing data in response to questions from campus stakeholders. In collaboration with Princeton University Library, the Course Materials Manager promotes best practices in the adoption of course materials.

This is a new role that will allow the successful candidate the opportunity to shape and refine the responsibilities of the position.

Responsibilities



Functional lead

The Course Materials Manager helps develop and manage the implementation of the book adoption and purchasing program. Working closely with the vendorâ™s customer success manager as well as with OITâ™s technical team, the Office of the Registrar, and the PeopleSoft team, the Manager executes and maintains the integration of the bookstore with Princetonâ™s systems.

The Manager is the primary point of contact between the online bookstore and Princeton, helps coordinate plans, and meets regularly with the vendor to discuss issues, roadmaps, and plans. The Manager is aware of technical issues and works with the bookstore and Princetonâ™s technical teams to troubleshoot and resolve them.

Bookstore campus manager and campus support

The Course Materials Manager has a deep understanding of the capabilities of the online bookstore, and, in collaboration with the vendor, provides customer support to faculty and their delegates, as well as to students, including Princeton students at other campuses. The Manager helps ensure that the needs of faculty, staff and students are taken into consideration in how the bookstore program is managed at Princeton.

The Manager coordinates training sessions and resources for book adoption and purchasing, as well as training sessions. In collaboration with the vendor and campus stakeholders, the PM coordinates and approves marketing and communications plans.

Data coordinator

The Course Materials Manager collaborates with the vendor to secure adoption and purchasing data, and coordinates the analysis and presentation of data in response to questions and needs of campus stakeholders.

Encourage best practices for course material adoptions

In collaboration with the Princeton University Library, the Course Materials Manager promotes best practices for course materials. The Manager works with departments, faculty and their delegates to improve workflows and selection processes for course materials.

Support of educational technology

As a member of the Digital Learning and Design team in the McGraw Center, the Course Materials Manager collaborates with faculty and staff on digital pedagogy projects and supports the purposeful use of educational technology, including the use of the learning management system.





Qualifications



ESSENTIAL

  • Bachelorâ™s degree or equivalent and 5+ years of work experience
  • In-depth knowledge of online platforms and educational technology
  • Proven ability to work with faculty in an educational setting and maintain active collaborative relationships
  • Ability to coordinate workflows
  • Demonstrated ability to use initiative, to prioritize, and to exercise independent judgment
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; demonstrated tact and discretion
  • Proven ability to form partnerships with key stakeholders and offices around campus
  • Experience developing instructional materials and offering training sessions
  • Accuracy and attention to detail

PREFERRED

  • Masterâ™s or professional degree
