Job Description - Executive Chef

EXECUTIVE CHEF POSITION

ABOUT US:

The Boca Grande Club, located on Gasparilla Island, in SW Florida, is seeking an experienced and creative Executive Chef to lead our culinary team. 

Gasparilla Island, commonly referred to as Boca Grande, (the name of the local town) is a barrier island accessible by a toll bridge. The island is seven miles long. It is approximately centered between Ft Myers and Sarasota. Boca Grande is an understated high-end community offering scores of community minded amenities and facilities usually only found in larger urban centers. We are also famous for what we do not have, no traffic lights, no fast-food establishments, no crowded beaches. 

The Boca Grande Club overlooks one of the best beaches in Florida and the views from our Clubhouse Dining areas are extraordinary. We overlook miles of uncrowded sandy beach with a fabulous view of the Gulf of Mexico and the entire length of the island. 

The Club, founded in 1979, has 1,400 plus active Homeowner and Social members. We enjoy a wonderful reputation, especially for our food and beverage service. We are often told we offer the best food in the area. We take immense pride in our food menu choices, plate presentation, and service. 

We are a gated community with 297 condominiums and homes within our complex. We offer eight clay tennis courts, a highly active Tennis Program, State of the Art Fitness Center, 3 pools, Tiki Bar and gardens. In season, (October 1st to May 1st) we offer many special events in our Clubhouse.

We look forward to welcoming our next Executive Chef, who will replace our current Executive Chef who has been with us for the past 13 years and has done a wonderful job. Our current Executive Chef is leaving our employment as he has decided to make a change in his lifestyle; however, he will remain with us until we find a suitable replacement for his position.

The Candidate:

The ideal candidate for the position should possess the following skills and credentials:

  • Culinary School Graduate.
  • At least 3 years’ Executive Chef experience.
  • Creative with menu ideas.
  • Enthusiastic about food.
  • Able to manage and control the cost of goods and services.
  • Control inventory and purchasing.
  • Hire, train, supervise kitchen staff.
  • Oversee the maintenance of all kitchen equipment.
  • Keep a spotlessly clean kitchen and follow food safety and sanitation law.
  • When required, be able to handle unusual circumstances and find creative solutions to problems.
  • Keep a cool demeanor in all circumstances.
  • Be able to interact well with members, guests, staff, and management.
  • We offer a starting salary of $100,000 plus per annum.
  • Pay 65% of family Health Insurance.
  • Dental Insurance.
  • A Simple IRA with a match of 3% of salary which is fully vested after two years.
  • Bridge toll paid.
  • Educational courses paid.
  • Uniforms paid.
  • Paid in full when we close after Labor Day weekend until the first week in October, usually 4 plus weeks.
