Job Description - First Nations, Métis, Inuit Candidates- CIBC Capital Markets Inclusion Scholarship

Indigenous students, do you want a chance to receive a $10,000 scholarship and summer internship at CIBC? Are you entering your second or third year in a bachelor program in the 2024-2025 academic year?

Are you looking to enter the Commercial Banking, CIBC Private Wealth: Private Banking and CIBC Asset Management world?

CIBC is looking for you!

CIBC is launching their inclusion scholarship to give 8 Indigenous post-secondary students the chance to receive a $10,000 scholarship and a summer internship at CIBC! When you join CIBC as a post-secondary student, you will be making a difference for our clients, team, and your community. You will be using your strong relationship-building, communication, and technical skills to assist your teams with a variety of different projects and priorities.

Eligible fields of study include:

  • All Business programs
  • All Science programs
  • All Engineering programs
  • All Information Technology programs
  • All Mathematics and Statistics programs

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

  • Copy of your current curriculum vitae
  • Academic transcript of marks covering September 2022 – April 2024
  • Two (2) essays on the following:
  • Describe the community with which you most closely identify; how has this identity influenced your life? (250 words)
  • Why would you like to work for CIBC Capital Markets? (250 words)

complete to be evaluated, and deadline extensions will not be granted.

If any of the requirements noted above are not met, the application will be considered incomplete. Deadline extensions will not be granted.

scholarship according to the program guidelines. Please add to safe

SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS

Successful applicants will receive confirmation of their scholarship in June 2024 along with

internship placement (business unit and internship start/end dates). Recipients will be required

to complete the online scholarship acceptance process and forward any required

documentation such as proof of registration from the institution they will be attending.

It is the responsibility of the recipient to keep SPC informed of any changes to their contact information

through the online portal.


• If a recipient decides not to complete their internship with CIBC, they will no longer be

eligible to receive the scholarship funds;


• The scholarship must be paid out in the same year that they intern with us;


• Once accepted, scholarship payment and/or summer internships cannot be deferred to

a later year.

SCHOLARSHIP PAYMENT

Payment will be issued between May - July 2025, at the start of the student’s internship with

CIBC Capital Markets. It can take 6 to 8 weeks, depending on the method of payment chosen.

Funds will be sent to your educational institution on behalf of the sponsor.

Please make sure to pay your tuition fees within the defined time frame, regardless of the

timing of scholarship payment. Your institution will reimburse you according to their normal

practices.

We will communicate with you through your student portal account. Be sure to keep contact

information up to date and to notify us of any changes.

CIBC has entrusted the administration of its scholarship program to SPC, a division of

Universities Canada. We administer over 140 scholarship programs for corporations,

government agencies, and private foundations in North America and are affiliated with top

companies in almost every sector of the economy. For more details, please visit

Applications are open until May 8, 2024. Selected candidates will be invited to interview with a recruiter from CIBC, and successful candidates will receive confirmation of their scholarship and internship placement.

* Have minimum cumulative GPA 3.50 over the last three terms of available marks
*. Non- academic courses, such as career or personal development related courses, will not be considered.
* CIBC. Failure to meet these requirements, as determined by CIBC in its sole and absolute discretion, may deem an applicant ineligible and/or result in the withdrawal of the Scholarship and Internship.
