Gardener II

Nemours Estate is seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our Horticultural Team in Wilmington, DE. Nemours Estate, built between 1910-1935, stands today as not only a world class public garden, but an invaluable resource to the patients and families of our sister organization, Nemours Childrens Hospital. A Gardener II performs all levels of garden and grounds maintenance required to maintain the highest aesthetic standards throughout the property. The primary function of the Gardener II is to maintain and improve the gardens by performing all pertinent maintenance practices. Essential Functions

• Additional miscellaneous duties and responsibilities, as may be assigned from time to time by employee's supervisor.

• Operate equipment and vehicles safely

• Maintain equipment and vehicles safely

• Weed and clean bedding areas

• Water as needed and directed

• Mulching

• Planting seasonal flowers

• Planting woody plant materials

• Transplant woody plant material

• Mowing

• Hedge shearing

• Pruning evergreen and deciduous shrubs and flowering trees

• Snow and ice control

Requirements HS Diploma or equivalent Specialized one year of training beyond HS Three years experience in working in formal gardens; formal garden maintenance training Valid driver's license State of DE Pesticide Application license or ability to acquire preferred
