Overview:

Location: Evansville, IN

Compensation: $25-29 per hour

Position Summary

As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the optimal functioning of our repair facility. Your expertise will be essential in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of fleet vehicles and equipment. This position requires a deep understanding of light, medium and heavy duty automotive mechanical and electrical systems and a commitment to delivering top-notch service. This role will report to the Senior Manager of Shops.

Responsibilities:

Primary Responsibilities

  • Vehicle Diagnosis: Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostic tests to identify mechanical, electrical, and technical issues in various types of vehicles and equipment.
  • Repairs and Maintenance: Perform complex and precise repairs on engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, and other automotive and industrial components.
  • Problem Solving: Troubleshoot and resolve complex automotive mechanical and electrical problems efficiently, using advanced technical knowledge and diagnostic tools.
  • Supervision and Training: Mentor and provide guidance to junior mechanics, ensuring their skills and knowledge align with industry standards.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all repairs meet safety and quality standards, conducting post-repair inspections to verify the integrity of the work.
  • Work Orders & Parts Management: Help Manage inventory, order replacement parts, and maintain accurate records of all vehicle repairs and maintenance activities utilizing computer software system.


Job Qualifications and Skills:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent with a valid Master Mechanic certification or ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as an automotive mechanic required, with a proven track record of handling complex repairs.
  • Valid Driver's License with a good driving record
  • Ability to pass a thorough background check and pre-employment drug screen required as a condition of employment
  • Wachs Valve Machine and Aquatech Combo Truck experience a plus.
  • Proficient in using diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and specialized automotive repair software.
  • In-depth knowledge of automotive systems, including engines, transmissions, electronics, and modern vehicle technologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues efficiently.
  • Commitment to adhering to safety protocols and ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical information to non-technical customers clearly.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
Qualifications:

Pay:

  • $25-29 per hour
