12-mos; 260 days JOB SUMMARY & PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS REPORTS TO: Lead or Network Principal DEPARTMENT NAME: Leadership and Learning JOB SUMMARY (2-3 sentences): Supervises staff and oversees direct operation of the assigned high school. Responsible for staff supervision, instructional and extra-curricular programs, budget, discipline, student safety, student/personnel data, public relations, technology systems, facilities, supplies and equipment, and reporting. Develops and implements programs within organizational policies; reports major activities to executive level administrators through conferences and reports. Attends or conducts staff, committee, PTA and other professional meetings to exchange information; attends professional classes, seminars, or conferences to improve professional skills. PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS: List, in the order of time spent, the essential tasks performed by the position. Employees may be assigned additional duties by management as required. Job Responsibility 1: Supervises staff, including selecting or recommending selection, training, assigning and evaluating work, counseling, disciplining, and terminating or recommending termination. Job Responsibility 2: Provides leadership in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating instructional programs; supervises school financial and business matters. Job Responsibility 3: Develops, prepares and administers approved departmental budget; monitors and approves expenditures; prepares financial forms and reports. Job Responsibility 4: Establishes and maintains positive public relations with staff members, students, parents, and community; meets with students, parents and teachers to resolve issues/problems. Job Responsibility 5: Reviews and makes recommendations on proposed policies and/or changes in existing policies; implements policies as approved by the Board of Education; enforces policies and procedures for student discipline and protects students' rights. Job Responsibility 6: Gathers and maintains information/data to support periodic and special reports documenting activities for area of responsibility. Maintains record system for area of responsibility; process daily paperwork including reports, memos, requisitions, and personnel information. Supervises compilation of student data, including report cards, transcripts, and attendance. Job Responsibility 7: Sets guidelines and supervises school clubs and organizations affiliated with the school. Schedules classes and extra-curricular activities for students; coordinates safety inspections and safety drill activities; provides logistic support for school transportation. Job Responsibility 8: Monitors and oversees use of materials and equipment by school personnel; ensures proper maintenance of school facilities. PEOPLE RESPONSIBILITY : " People Responsibility" refers to individuals who have contact with or are influenced by the position. Negotiates or exchanges ideas, information, and opinions with others to formulate policies and programs, or arrive jointly at decisions, conclusions, or solutions. ASSETS RESPONSIBILITY : " Assets Responsibility" refers to the responsibility for achieving economies or preventing loss within the organization. Requires responsibility and opportunity for achieving widespread economies and/or preventing losses through the development and administration of organization-wide programs and policies that impact the operations of two or more major departments or three or more minor departments, or for providing legal counsel to the elected officials. MATHEMATICAL REQUIREMENTS : " Mathematics" deals with quantities, magnitudes, and forms and their relationships and attributes by the use of numbers and symbols. Uses basic algebra calculating variables and formulas, and/or basic geometry, calculating plane and solid figures; may compute discounts, interest, ratios and proportions, and percentages. COMMUNICATIONS REQUIREMENTS : " Communications" involves the ability to read, write, and speak. Reads professional publications; composes complex reports and manuals; speaks formally to groups outside the organization. COMPLEXITY OF WORK : " Complexity of Work" addresses the analysis, initiative, ingenuity, creativity, and concentration required by the position and the presence of any unusual pressures. Performs work involving the application of broad principles of professional management and leadership to solve new problems for which conventional solutions do not exist; requires sustained, intense concentration for accurate results and continuous exposure to unusual pressure. IMPACT OF DECISIONS : " Impact of Decisions" refers to consequences such as damage to property, loss of data or property, exposure of the organization to legal liability, or injury or death to individuals. Makes decisions with extremely serious impact - affects entire organization and impacts other activities/organizations and the general public; loss of life and/or damage is highly likely. EQUIPMENT USAGE : "Equipment Usage" refers to inanimate objects such as substances, materials, machines, tools, equipment, work aids, or products. A thing is tangible and has shape, form, and other physical characteristics. Develops and implements long-range plans and programs to support the goals and objectives of the organization. SAFETY OF OTHERS : " Safety of Others" refers to the responsibility for other people's safety, either inherent in the job or to assure the safety of the general public. Requires management level responsibility for application and interpretation of the policies regarding the provision of continuous enforcement of the laws and standards of public health and safety. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS : " Education Requirements" refers to job specific training and education required for entry into the position. Requires master's degree in high school education, educational administration, or a closely related field. LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED : " Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations" refers to professional, state, or federal licenses, certifications, or registrations required to enter the position. Requires current state certification in Administration. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS : " Experience Requirements" refers to the amount of work experience that is required for entry into the position that would result in reasonable expectation that the person can perform the tasks required by the position. Requires eight years of applicable experience. More specific degree, certification, and experience requirements will be included in the position announcement as vacancies occur. AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES REQUIREMENTS PHYSICAL DEMANDS : " Physical Demands" refers to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement. Requires medium to heavy work involving exerting up to 70 pounds of force on a frequent basis and exceptional dexterity and skill in operating machinery, tools, or equipment. UNAVOIDABLE HAZARDS : " Unavoidable Hazards" refers to unusual conditions in the work environment that may cause illness or injury. The position is exposed to extreme heat/cold, wet or humid conditions, bright/dim lights, intense noise levels, vibration, fumes or noxious odors, moving mechanical parts, electrical shock, traffic, and toxic or caustic chemicals. SENSORY (ADA) REQUIREMENTS : " Sensory Requirements" refers to hearing, sight, touch, taste, and smell necessary to perform the tasks required by the position efficiently. The position requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing, speaking, color perception, sense of smell, and texture perception.
