Key job responsibilities The Amazon Robotics Supply Chain and Operations organization sources and manufactures a portfolio of robotics technology and is responsible for delivering new products by enabling the right suppliers and technologies, and getting the right materials to the right place at the right time to support our network of global fulfillment and transportation solutions. It is a fast-paced operation that works cross-functionally with teams across Amazon and is driven by data and metrics. The Supply Chain team is seeking an experienced Principal Tech Biz Dev to join the Supply Chain Single Threaded Leader (STL) team. The candidate will have a proven background in Robotics automation, global supplier management and/or new product introduction programs, with experience managing advanced technology commodities and suppliers. The successful candidate for this position will be experienced working with product and engineering teams on the development and scaled production of advanced technology. As a Principal Tech lead, the candidate will have demonstrated the technical expertise to develop and execute on strategic commercial goals for technical commodities and suppliers. They are self-managing, have a high sense of urgency and driven to achieve defined product development, supplier management, and scaled manufacturing goals. The STL has an important role developing supplier and supply chain strategies for their portfolio of robotics products. They work with commodity managers and suppliers to meet the technical and commercial specifications necessary for Robotics to satisfy its internal partners in Product, Hardware Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, Supplier Quality, Supply Chain, Deployment, and Field Operations. Key job responsibilities - Lead cross-functional supply chain team dedicated to the supply chain design, sourcing and logistics decisions, and supply chain execution of programs through the product development cycle. - Act as single point of contact for program resources (leadership and working teams) to communicate Supply Chain decisions and progress, provide feedback on supply chain implications of program decisions and changes, and support financial planning and capital approvals for the program. - Collaborate with hardware engineering, operations and program teams on supplier selection, cost and new product introduction. - Responsible for definition and approval of the Supply Chain strategy (SSR), including identification of critical supply components, cost roadmap to meet payback targets, definition of capacity plan and associated sourcing and tooling requirements, supply chain risk assessment & mitigation plans - Work with sourcing in developing negotiation strategies for categories which impacts the product to deliver against business objectives and achieve sustainable relationships with strategic suppliers pertaining to Amazon Robotics products supporting the priority programs as driven by the Operating Plan (OP) - Work with GCMs on managing overall supplier relationships including supplier performance, capability development, capacity planning, contracting, risk mitigation, and cost and quality improvements. - Develop roadmap to achieving NPI and GA total cost targets (TCO), including make vs. buy analysis and value engineering opportunities - Ensure non-cost goals (Sustainability, Supplier Development, Cost Savings) are met and supported by the Supply Chain strategy. - Logistics and Inventory Management strategies A day in the life Think Big, Bias for Action and Earns Trust are the three key functional competencies that are needed to be successful in this role. This helps to demonstrate high Customer Obsession, taking ownership, dive deep in solving business problems and Deliver Results creating value. Key functional skills are strategic negotiation experience, extract insights from data and drive actions and communication skills to influence cross functional stakeholders on executing the supply chain strategy. Key deliverable - Develop the 2-3-year Supply Chain Strategy influencing program leadership and helps in achieving financial targets on cost and lead time helping financial payback. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or other technical discipline - 7+ years of experience in technical and commercial sourcing environment in a high volume manufacturing operations - 7+ years of direct experience in supplier/supply chain management - Experience in Global supply chain, commercial/vendor management, technical product development - Experience working with technical teams (HW engineering, applied science, etc) on new product development - Knowledge of basic supply agreement construction; understanding of key contracting provisions/requirements - Experience with Microsoft Office - Working knowledge of applicable industries, robotics, semiconductors, consumer electronics, electric vehicles
