DRG Inpatient Coder

This is a remote position.

We are currently looking for DRG Inpatient Coders. This position is fully remote. We are seeking part-time and full-time coders.   The position does require clearance with the federal government, so only US citizens who can obtain a clearance, if they do not already hold a clearance should apply.

Job Duties:

Ø Reviews inpatient health records and assigns ICD10 diagnosis and procedure codes according to professional practice standards to insure accurate DRG assignment and reimbursement.

Ø Familiar and experience with a wide variety of medical specialties and clinical services and requires translation of the documentation into a corresponding code that captures and describes the patient's condition and services provided.

Ø Issues physician query forms to clarify the documentation for accurate code assignments.

Ø Screens medical records for compliance with pre-approved criteria for a variety of medical staff/quality management reviews.

Ø Applies technical medical record knowledge to various data gathering and analysis projects.

Ø Issues physician query forms to clarify the documentation for accurate code assignments.

Ø Follows Site Specific Guidelines

Skills and Requirements

Ø A strong understanding of physiology, medical terms and anatomy

Ø Experienced at ICD10 coding

Ø Proficiency in computer skills including typing speed and accuracy

Ø Mathematics skills

Ø Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ø Organizational skills

Ø Ability to maintain a high level of integrity and confidentiality of medical information.

Ø Strict attention to details

Ø Knowledge of data entry and transcription

Ø 2 years of Coding Experience

Ø Nice to have active security clearance, but must be able to obtain.

Ø Certified by any of the following: 

Technician (RHIT), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Specialist Physician Based (CCS-P), Certified Professional Coder Hospital (CPCH) and Certified Professional Coder Evaluation and Management (CPC-EM) or Certified Professional Coder – Hospital (CPC-H).

Pay Range: Per chart pay of $17-$20 per chart depending on experience and coding accuracy.
