POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Robotic Technician to join our team in Richmond, IN. This role involves the programming, troubleshooting, and preparation of industrial robots for manufacturing processes. The technician will work closely with system PLCs, ensuring seamless integration from the initial setup to full production. This hands-on position will involve on-site programming and adjustments on the shop floor and providing ongoing automation support. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, the ability to train and guide team members, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Robot Setup and Programming
- Program and configure robots, focusing on efficient communication with PLCs and peripheral equipment.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for all robot programs.
- Configure Robot I/O and ensure accurate Robot Mastering, TCP verification, and Payload setup.
- Perform auto-debugging with PLCs and troubleshoot any issues to optimize performance.
- Implement cycle time reductions and improvements to increase throughput.

Robot Systems Integration
- Interface with Fanuc DCS and ABB SafeMove for enhanced robot safety and performance.
- Handle various robotic processes, including material handling, welding, and dispensing.
- Oversee the entire process from robot integration to installation and support production startup.
- Load and configure robot programs, ensuring accurate path and vision teaching when required.

Production and Technical Support
- Provide on-site installation and start-up support for robotic systems.
- Deliver technical assistance for process development and enhancements.
- Offer ongoing support to assembly operators and maintenance teams on robotic functionality and troubleshooting.
- Assist with electrical diagnostics and repair recommendations.

Maintenance and Safety
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and company policies.

Documentation and Training
- Create detailed documentation for robotic systems and processes.
- Train and mentor employees on robot setup, operation, and maintenance.

- Perform other related duties and assignments as required.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or a related field. Equivalent experience will also be considered.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with Fanuc robot programming.
- Proficiency in robotic path teaching and vision systems setup is highly desirable.
- Strong experience in setting up and troubleshooting robot communication protocols (DeviceNet, Profibus, ProfiNet, Ethernet IP).

Technical Skills
- Deep understanding of robot motion systems, TCPs, and RTCPs.
- Ability to program robotic systems and interface them with PLCs.
- Competence in basic/intermediate programming languages such as Visual Basic, C, or C++.
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Familiarity with mechanical systems and the ability to read schematics and technical drawings.
