The Department
The Human Services Department (HSD) delivers and supports services by forging long-term community partnerships; engaging with and building the capacity of the community to do its own problem- solving; and leveraging financial and volunteer resources. The Aging and Family Services Division (AFS) of HSD specifically supports older residents and their caregivers to live active, healthy lives in the Tri-City community.
The Position
As a member of the HSD assigned to the AFS, the Senior Program Coordinator will organize, coordinate, and implement community wellness programs for older adults. The Community Programs include health promotion activities such as health screenings, wellness classes, and educational activities. The position works within a team that includes volunteers, health promoters, nurses, social workers and mental health workers. The position facilitates community awareness and partnerships, with individuals and agencies, to promote an age-friendly environment.

Qualifications
Any combination of education and/or experience that has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to satisfactory job performance would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge, skills and abilities would be:
Education - Master's degree in public health, social welfare, or comparable field
Experience - Two years of experience developing programs and providing services for older adults
Licenses/Certifications/Special Requirements - This position requires the ability to travel independently within and outside City limits. Therefore, a valid Class C California Driver's License is required by time of appointment. Bilingual language skills (Spanish, Farsi, Hindi, Mandarin) is highly desirable.
