Supply Planning Manager

Position Summary

Thales is looking for a Supply Planning Manager to join the Orlando team. Thales AGS (Aviation Global Services) is looking for a Global Supply Planning Manager, who is responsible for managing a team of manufacturing buyers and internal supply chain delivery team/coordinators. You will own both short-term and long term supply plan for AGS business line. You are a member of global supply chain network, owning your respective S&OP processes. This role will work cross functionally to capture all qualitative and quantitative inputs that will help define an accurate supply plan.

Supply planning has become increasingly important in light of the global supply chain shortages and the need for longer-term investment decisions within the supply chain. The function serves as a strategic asset for expertise and cross-functional capability, thereby forming the nerve-center of the AGS supply chain. You will manage SAP MRP parameters, and perform World-wide (WW) allocation when supply doesn’t meet the global demand.

In this position, you will own, shape, and refine your supply plan based on delivery schedules from supplier, and production schedules and capacities from production as well as publish regular metrics to define improvement opportunities within supply chain team so we can maximize customer OTD and optimize inventory.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Review and maintain supply plan ensuring feasibility in terms of material availability, and sharing insights on supplier resources and bottlenecks. Your supply plan will help optimizing customer service levels, meeting days-on-hand targets, minimizing shortages, and maximizing customer on-time delivery. Work with production entities to secure Last Time Buy offers while ensuring delivery schedules are in agreement with Inventory manager and Forecasting & Planning Manager objectives. Identify all supply planning related issues, providing resolution to key shortage issues to upper management at executive summary level. Lead effort to optimize inventory levels, while ensuring any critical parts shortages are managed strategically and as a project for timely resolution with respective owners and stake holders. Coordinate with Procurement to manage supply requirements by recommending appropriate measures to resolve supply constrains where necessary.
  • Proactively develop and use reporting tools to assist management decisions, anticipating and resolving potential roadblocks. Train and guide the team of Supply Planners in analyzing and resolving inventory imbalances, through process and reporting improvements efforts. Provide direction, coordination, and evaluation for Supply Planners and other direct reports. Leverage analytical insights to improve customer fill rates and inventory efficiency. Collaborate with S&OP Manager and other S&OP functions in support of ongoing S&OP cycle. Lead periodic reports for senior leadership providing updates on execution and challenges in the assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Grow and optimize Sales and Operational Planning (S&OP) processes in collaboration with S&OP Manager, to align business decisions, creating the signals for quarterly and yearly material purchasing requirements that meet long term demand. Lead the team to create supply chain and financial metrics to monitor and continuously improve demand-supply cycle and its impact on availability and cost.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) discussions, or Entry into Service (EIS) discussions to ensure we are ready to support future needs while planning well ahead of time. Proactively maintain supplier lead times at all times and communicate to required stake-holders based on ABC inventory classification.
  • Propose and lead discussions on “what-if” scenarios and options for transitions, new product launch plans, and growth assumptions, ensuring integrity of supply chain signals for a wide range of business outcomes are captured through the S&OP cycle. Work with business team leaders on demand shaping options for constrained supply. Responsible for the fulfilment of SRU, Service parts and Modification Kits/SB kits to support both repair operations as well as customer orders. Maintain reporting that measures the gaps between material availability to customer commitments.
  • Develop strategic planning processes beyond one year, assessing impact on inventory, risk buy, supplier constraints, and the nature of commitments needed for critical supply chain requirements. Guide Supply Chain Automation Teams on implementing the systems and datasets required for the various elements of the demand planning process, while also directly managing/dialing in new programs until such a time as it makes sense to automate. Inspect plans developed within supply chain teams for compliance to demand signals, challenging supply chain assurance for critical bottlenecks and focusing team resources to the points of greatest concern. Accountable for local product availability to support world-wide distribution, repair, and TKM customers, applying a sense of urgency in addressing any missing parts that are preventing repairs from being completed. Share accountability for customer on-time-delivery and availability of assigned items.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8 years’ previous experience, in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Business, Finance, Economics, or related is required. May consider years of experience and education in lieu of degree.
  • Experience with ERP (SAP) is required. Experience with Business Intelligence: Power BI or Tableau and other analytical tools highly preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint & Visio). Executive friendly presentations. Experience in Aerospace, MRO or repair operations a plus.
  • Ability to extract large amounts of data from multiple sources and convert that into actionable insights. Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects & tasks while dealing with disruptions and competing priorities.
  • Must have strong problem-solving and organization skills and be able to drive assignments to successful conclusion. Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.

Special Position Requirements

  • Schedule: Core Business Hours Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm.
  • Physical Environment: Primarily office environment but will be required to visit warehouse, production and repair station areas.
  • Physical Demands: Typical office environment.
  • Travel: Minimal, less than 10%.
  • Regulatory Compliance Requirements: None.
