Job Description - Surveyor Technician

Job Description:

Ferguson Construction is an award-winning general contracting company specializing in manufacturing and industrial buildings, medical office buildings, healthcare facilities, retail, and commercial spaces. This position supports all regional offices. These include, Sidney, Dayton, Columbus and Indianapolis.

The ideal candidate is a detail oriented, motivated self-starter, competent in conducting design surveys, boundary surveys, topography surveys, utility location surveys as well as data collection. Additionally, we are looking for the candidate to have at least 3-5 years of experience in the field. Candidates should be familiar with robotic technology and GPS. No overnight travel is required for this position.

Applicants must be able to work primarily outdoors. Candidates must also be able to perform physical activities such as lifting up to 20 pounds , dragging, stooping, standing and walking for periods of time. This position reports to the Managing Architect and manages one employee. This position can be based out of Ferguson's Sidney or Dayton, Ohio offices.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate excellent attention to detail throughout the survey process.
  • Assist design team with survey research.
  • Perform property, boundary, topographic, utility, and record surveys as well as construction stakeouts.
  • Assist with survey and courthouse/deed research to complete boundary resolution for property boundaries, rights-of-ways, easements and utilities.
  • Verify accuracy and completeness of survey data, including measurements and calculations. Prepare/transmit data for use by office personnel.
  • Monitor quality and compliance with professional standards and risk management.
  • Ensure that all construction staking is accurate by performing various checks both during procedures and upon completion.
  • Train and mentor other survey team members.
  • Ensure that all survey equipment is properly maintained and calibrated, and that all materials are organized and well stocked.

Skills:

  • Strong sense of urgency and self-drive to meet deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of a Robot Total Station and GPS receiver preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to read and interpret civil drawings.
  • Strong math skills.

Requirements:

  • 3 years Field Survey Experience preferred.
  • Possibility of managing 1 Surveyor.
  • Driver's License (Required)
