Job Overview: The Seasonal Asset Protection SecurityGuard's primary responsibility is to work as part of a team andmaintain a strong focus on customer service to meet department andstore objectives for deterring theft and ensuring a safe businessenvironment. This position involves long periods of standing. Inmost instances the Seasonal Asset Protection Security guard willstand at a customer and/or employee entrance/exit door(s) for longperiods of time and/or walk through high shortage departments todeter theft and provide customer service. In order to present ourcustomers with the best holiday shopping experience, many of ourSeasonal associates arrive prior to store opening and remain afterclosing to ensure we are ready to make Macy's magic. Seasonalassociates will have the opportunity to work a flexible schedule ona temporary basis, which may include early mornings, evenings,weekends and busy events such as the day after Thanksgiving and theday after Christmas. Essential Functions:Deter theft by offering customer service Remained stationed at afixed post, i.e entrance/exit doors, for long periods of time forextended periods of time to provide a strong visible presenceCommunicate with the Asset Protection Department Respond tocustomer and associate incidents to facilitate first aid andminimize company liability Assist Detectives with the Recovery ofstolen merchandise Successfully complete all Asset Protectiontraining requirements and maintain personal certifications asrequired by law Works on special assignments, investigations, andsurveillance as directed by Store Asset Protection Manager Performother duties as needed Follows shortage programs and proceduresPerform these functions in an efficient manner, as directed by theSupervisor Regular, dependable attendance and punctualityQualifications: Education/Experience: High School Diploma orequivalent. Some college is desirable. Completion of Store AgentTraining program required upon assignment to position.Communication Skills: Effective written and verbal skills, abilityto interpret instructional documents such as safety rules,operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Excellent written and verbal communication skills. MathematicalSkills: Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction,multiplication, and division. Able to use a calculator ReasoningAbility: Self-starter, able to work independently and as part of ateam and must have good time management skills. Physical Demands:This position involves long periods of standing and remainingstationary. It also involves regular walking, hearing, and talking.Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision,color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the abilityto adjust focus. Other Skills: Ability to think and act clearly inpossible stressful and hostile situations. Ability to collaborateand function as a member of a team. Must possess a strong sense ofurgency.
