DESCRIPTION
Are you excited about applying economic models and methods using large data sets to solve real world business problems? Then join the Core AI team for an internship. An internship at Amazon is an opportunity to work with leading economic researchers on influencing needle-moving business decisions using incomparable datasets and tools.
We are looking for detail-oriented, organized, and responsible individuals who are eager to learn how to work with large and complicated data sets. Knowledge of econometrics, as well as familiarity with Stata, R, or Python is necessary. Experience with SQL would be a plus. You will take on complex problems, and work on solutions that either leverage existing academic and industrial research, or utilize your own out-of-the-box pragmatic thinking. You will learn how to build data sets and perform applied econometric analysis to solve business challenges.
These are full-time positions at 40 hours per week, with compensation being awarded on an hourly basis. Roughly 85% of previous cohorts have converted to full time economics employment at Amazon. If you are interested, please send your CV to our mailing list at [email protected].
About the team
The Core AI team at Amazon works with senior management on key business problems faced in retail, international retail, supply chain, traffic, search, pricing, cloud computing, third party merchants and operations. The Core AI team is the intersection of economics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. We apply the frontier of economic and science thinking to pricing, forecasting, supply chain network planning, computer vision in fulfillment center and many other areas.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- PhD student in Economics (enrolled in 3rd year or more and not currently on the job market)
- Proficiency in Stata, R, and/or Python
- Knowledge of econometrics
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working with large data sets
- Attention to detail
- Familiarity with SQL
- Strong research track record

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $49.66/hr in our lowest geographic market up to $96.63/hr in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
