We’re actively seeking an Accounting Intern to join the Operations team in the Summer of 2023! 

The AMA is an agile and quickly changing organization in the membership/association space, and the Accounting staff at AMA adapts just as quickly. Want an opportunity to start the preparation of our books at year-end (June 30) for audit, while working with a small but diverse staff with a total of over fifty years of not-for-profit accounting experience? You could also be asked to work on projects related to DEI or to make improvements to our accounting processes. Join a great group of people for a good learning experience in various areas of accounting!

The AMA Summer 2023 Cohort will commence on Monday, June 5th and conclude on Friday, July 28th, 2023. 

This paid internship will be a completely remote opportunity for the duration of the eight-week program.

Please note that candidates must be located where the AMA has a current employer identification number: Alabama, District of Columbia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington State, or Wisconsin.

Accounting Intern Core Job Responsibilities

• Reconciling accounts in the general ledger 
• Setting up new vendor accounts in our payables system and initializing the payment process
• Assisting with payment batch creation for accounts receivable
• Participating in preparation for year-end close process for our annual audit

What You Have

• Familiarity with basic accounting principles
• Experience with Excel
• Strong desire and willingness to learn
• Ability to collaborate with a team and at times work independently
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

What You May Also Have

• Introduction to automated accounting systems like Quickbooks (we use Sage Intacct)
