Job Description - Part-Time | Onsite Research Study for Biology Students

Why US

About TELUS International AI

We help companies test and improve machine learning models via our global AI Community of 1 million+ annotators and linguists. Our proprietary AI training platform handles all data types (text, images, audio, video, and geo) across 500+ languages and dialects. Our AI Data Solutions vastly enhance AI systems across a range of applications from advanced smart products to better search results, to expanded speech recognition, to more human-like bot interactions and so much more.

We are looking for students with basic biological training (i.e., have taken one introductory-level undergraduate biology class, or took AP biology/IB biology in high school).

Task Description: To help us better understand the risks from biology-related capabilities in search and language models, we are asking participants to help us probe the frontiers of these tools. Candidates will interact with a new AI chatbot during the research study. The task is estimated to take six hours in total, the first hour is for the introduction and delivery of instructions, and 5 hours for engaging with the chatbot. Participants will be provided refreshments during the duration of the task. Registered participants will be able to select weekdays or weekends depending on their availability.

Duration of task: 6 hours

Location: On-Site (Los Angeles and/or South Bay area, CA, and Washington, D.C.)

Project date: 04.16.2024, 04.18.2024, 04.19.2024 and 04.20.2024

Compensation: USD 330 per session

Payment options: Hyperwallet (through TELUS International AI Community Platform) - payments will be processed and paid out a couple of weeks after the study is completed.

Requirements:

  • 18+ years of age
  • English proficiency
  • U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents with a valid permanent resident card or US registered refugees (student visas are not eligible)
  • Be able to commute to the specified on-site location
  • Undergraduate college students with basic biological training (i.e., have taken one introductory-level undergraduate biology class, or took AP biology/IB biology in high school)
  • Participant must not have received more biological training (i.e., not a biology major & has not taken 3 or more college-level biology classes)
  • Be able to provide high school/undergrad/college transcripts or records of registered courses to show the total number of biology classes taken
  • Participants can register only once for the study
  • Successfully passed background check

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or protected veteran status.
