Engineering Manager, Growth Zone

What we're looking for

We're looking for a talented Tech Lead with the ability to iterate rapidly who loves food, big challenges, and a powerful purpose; who can get things done in a high-impact, small teams Engineering organization.

The Role

The Engineering Manager for the Growth Zone is highly cross-functional, and you'll collaborate with leaders from across the organization. This leadership position will oversee the First Impressions, Funnel, and Activation Squads that owns our web app's tactical and strategic tech direction post-signup. It’s a high-impact role with the ability to influence all parts of CookUnity. Our customers use our digital experience weekly to find their favorite meals from our 300+ item menu, and the Engagement Squad is responsible for making that easy and delightful. You’ll be reporting directly to our Engagement Zone Director of Engineering.

As a leader of the squad, you’ll partner with product, design, and data leadership, as well as leaders in Operations, Chef Success, and the local markets to establish the product strategy, OKRs, and roadmap. You’ll set the bar and mentor tech leads and developers on how to do this for their squads.

Your Responsibilities

• Collaborate with your team to define the product roadmap.
• Participate in hiring across squads.
• Monitor development velocity.
• Design and implement process improvements to raise quality and velocity.
• Develop Squad Objectives and Key Results. Owning the design and implementation of platform features within our Javascript stack that engages customers and has a meaningful impact on people’s lives.
• Iterating on new and existing features to improve user experience and performance.
• Actively contribute to the adoption of strong software architecture, development of best practices, and new technologies.
• Improving the maturity of our technical stack with engineering best practices.
• Being part of the code review process and helping to mentor other engineers.
• Contribute technically to projects by being a hands-on coder, removing roadblocks, and repairing technical issues.
• Partner with members of Product, Growth, Marketing, Customer Experience and other teams to continually refine and improve our product in an agile process.

Requirements:

• You have experience designing and building cloud architecture, backends, middle ends, web apps, basically the whole combo!
• You understand how to interact with and build backend REST APIs.
• Previous experience leading or mentoring teams is highly valued.
• You have an advanced level of English
• You enjoy working in small teams in a fast-paced startup environment.
