Job Description

JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE: JPM) is a leading global financial services firm with assets of $2.6 trillion and operations in more than 60 countries. The firm is a leader in investment banking, financial services for consumers, small business and commercial banking, financial transaction processing, asset management, and private equity.

The Legal Department is organized by Practice Groups that conform to the organization of the Firm’s line of business and corporate staff areas. Each Practice Group has a General Counsel who is the Practice Group Head and who reports to the Firm’s General Counsel. This structure provides the means for the Legal teams to communicate legal and regulatory changes to the business and staff areas and for the lines of business and staff areas to communicate business developments that have legal or regulatory implications to the Legal teams in a timely manner. 

The  Legal Analyst  will be part of Legal Support Team that provides legal services to various Practice Groups within the Corporate Legal and Commercial Banking Legal departments. The successful candidate may be responsible for delivery of one or more functions with a focus on specific Practice Groups or region.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a variety of agreements.
  • Assist attorneys with advising on corporate legal related issues.
  • Assist with due diligence review and deal closing deliverables, as needed.
  • Assist with drafting various other corporate law transactional documents.
  • Conduct legal research and analyze laws, regulations and developments and communicate to senior leaders.
  • Engage in other special projects, as needed.

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills:

  • Law Degree from a premier law school and membership in jurisdictional organization. Attorney candidates must be in compliance with all relevant licensing requirements including the requirements of the jurisdiction where the role will be located prior to commencement of employment.
  • 1-2 years of corporate law experience in a major law firm and/or financial institution. 
  • Excellent English language skills, both spoken and in writing – required.
  • Excellent organizational skills – required.
  • Self-starter and pro-active – required.
  • Working knowledge of contract review and legal analysis.
  • All candidates for roles in the Legal Department must successfully complete a conflicts of interest clearance review prior to commencement of employment.
