Team and Role Overview
The client is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to join our team. Our CapCloud SaaS platforms enable transformative business processing through a suite of award-winning, innovative solutions for capital markets and financial players of all sizes. Both platforms are rapidly growing, fully hosted, and deliver the power and sophistication of our market-leading software applications as a service. Client’s Cloud Services provides all the infrastructure, platform, and software, manages the operations and 24/7 production support, integrates the application with client and market ecosystems, and additionally offers value-added application-managed services to allow the clients to take full advantage of the entire Calypso offering.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that the overall service (including people/processes/tools/infrastructure) is available, and meeting agreed service level requirements
- Closely work with Devops team to validate new versions of the automation (Ansible tower, Gitlab, Python, Bash) and provisioning scripts (Terraform)
- Troubleshoot Infrastructure and automation related issues (Kubernetes deployment )
- Participate in BAU Change request activities (Config change, New app version deployment)
- Participate in Maintenance activities
- Manage appropriate incidents (and problems) through to resolution, referring and escalating to other resolver groups as required
- Execute plans for DR/BC as required (including periodic testing)
- Ensure support for a culture of continuous improvement, including identifying areas for potentially improved automation and feeding back to relevant teams
Requirements:
- At least 6+ years in a SaaS environment for a managed infrastructure or cloud-based solution
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology or similar qualification
- Strong knowledge of public cloud architecture (OCI, AWS, Azure)
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python and Unix Shell
- Experience with Terraform
- Experience with Linux (RedHat, Ubuntu, Centos, OEL)
- Experience with Kubernetes / Containers
- Good knowledge of TCP/IP, firewalls, VLAN, VPN, and SSH
- Good knowledge of Oracle Cloud and/or AWS and/or Azure
- Understanding of Java J2EE applications, JVM tuning, JConsole, JMX, and other Java tools is preferred
- Knowledge of IBM MQ and Other JMS services is a plus
- Familiarity with Oracle and PostgreSQL is a plus
- Experience with Windows 2016+ is a plus
- Good interpersonal and communications skills, with an ability to communicate technical topics to non-technical audience.
- Excellent experience working in distributed teams across multiple time zones and different jurisdictions
- Hands-on experience with tools managing the cloud environment including native Cloud Service provider tools and third party tools.
- Strong analytical skills and a familiarity with problem-solving, attention to detail and quality, and a desire for improvement
- Good awareness of security and confidentiality issues and experience in identifying security vulnerabilities
- Good knowledge of ITIL or similar frameworks
