We are one of the worlds largest copper producers and traders with our mining operations and development projects in key mining regions in Africa, Australia and the Americas. The MARA Project is located in Argentina’s Catamarca State close to the town of Andalgala. It is a high quality, long-life, brownfields project integrating the Minera Alumbrera plant and mining infrastructure with the Agua Rica resource. This position represents a significant opportunity to work in one of our most important projects, contributing to the long-term future of our Copper portfolio, the state of Catamarca and the wellbeing of the surrounding communities.

The Opportunity

The purpose of this role is to be accountable for leading the implementation of Human Resources project deliverables and business partnering in alignment with the execution strategy, including supporting governance oversight, stakeholder management and risk mitigation, for the MARA project, in accordance with guidelines, standards and procedures that are defined by Glencore Copper Projects.

In this role you will:

  • Develops and implements HR policies and procedures for the Capital Project Owner’s team to ensure compliance with local laws and regulations.
  • Leads the development and implementation of relevant HR systems (onboarding, performance management, talent management, training etc) and appropriate controls to ensure effective support across the annual lifecycle of HR activities for the Project Owner’s Team.
  • Manages recruitment and mobilisation for the Project Owner’s Team, ensuring the staffing plan is aligned with the project schedule and budget.
  • Oversees employee relations and organisational climate for the Owner’s team, so that leaders create an effective and productive working environment.
  • Using the HR strategy for construction, leads preparation of all HR inputs for Owner’s Team preparation for Construction phase, including various management plans (HR, ER and Training) considering various stakeholder inputs.
  • Coordinates interface of HR related aspects pertaining to EPCM partner and construction phase of project with EPCM HR counterpart.
  • Anticipates risks and significant issues to be addressed in realising the project’s construction strategy and plan. Identifies mitigations / resolutions and works with stakeholders to accept and implement proposed actions.
  • Develops and maintains a positive relationship with project stakeholders, including local communities, authorities, and service providers, to ensure the project is well regarded and supported.
  • Oversees the preparation for and management of camp and logistical services during the construction phase.
  • Prepares the demobilisation plan (all people related aspects) for the termination of the construction stage.

Your training, skills & expertise checklist:

  • The candidate will have suitable tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or allied fields: 12 - 15 plus years construction industry experience across either mining, oil & gas or major infrastructure projects, and major capital studies either with the Owner’s Team or EPCM.
  • High degree of business acumen
  • Demonstrated experience in the successful delivery of all HR elements associated with the preparation for and delivery of the construction and commissioning stages of a capital project.
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying, developing, and sustaining productive relationships with all stakeholders to deliver the best business outcomes for the project.
  • Proven problem-solving skills with orientation to pragmatic solutions for complex HR issues.
  • Tested and proven Employee Relations skills across a range of different environments.
  • Motivated self-starter with high energy level, action orientation and ability to follow through to completion.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and facilitate change.
  • Proven ability to work independently, take initiative, and make decisions in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated customer service orientation.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills (for all levels)
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English
  • Residence or willingness to move to Tucuman or Catamarca – Argentina.
  • Shift: 5x2
