About the role

This opportunity has arisen due to an internal secondment, creating an immediate need for a capable and proactive Accountant to join the finance team.

You'll play a key role in maintaining financial integrity, delivering accurate reporting, and supporting stakeholders across the organisation. This is a broad, hands-on role offering exposure to both operational and strategic finance activities.

Key responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Accounting

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and Board
• Maintain general ledger, journals, reconciliations, and fixed asset register
• Support year-end processes and liaise with external auditors
• Ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards (NFP)

Budgeting, Grants & Compliance

• Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes
• Monitor program budgets and analyse variances
• Support grant and project accounting, including acquittals
• Prepare BAS, FBT, payroll tax, and other statutory returns
• Ensure compliance with ACNC and relevant regulatory requirements

Financial Operations & Business Partnering

• Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes
• Manage cash flow, banking, and balance sheet reconciliations
• Provide clear financial insights and support to internal stakeholders

About you

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
• CPA/CA qualified or working towards
• Experience in a similar accounting role (NFP experience highly regarded)
• Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards (including NFP requirements)
• Experience with budgeting, reporting, and financial compliance
• Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with accounting systems
• High attention to detail, strong analytical capability, and ability to meet deadlines

Highly regarded:

• Experience with grant or project-based accounting
• Exposure to ACNC reporting requirements
• Background within not-for-profit, membership bodies, or regulated sectors
