Cost Accountant

Your Opportunity

After an in-depth handover, you will be able to work fully remote for the duration of the 6-month contract with occasional travel to the Brisbane office, therefore we need you to be based in Queensland.

This is a highly visible role where you'll partner closely with site leadership teams, providing critical financial insights that drive operational performance, cost control, profitability, and continuous improvement initiatives.

You'll report to an experienced Finance Manager who will be able to provide you with the support you need to be a success in a business that operates across Australia.

You will be hands on with:

• Weekly and monthly manufacturing reporting and analysis
• Product costing management across raw materials, WIP and finished goods
• Standard costing maintenance and annual costing reviews
• Manufacturing variance reporting and analysis
• Budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes
• Financial modelling and scenario analysis
• Capital expenditure monitoring and reporting
• Inventory and stocktake support
• Business partnering with manufacturing leadership teams
• Continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives
• Reporting automation and process improvement projects

Who You Are

We're looking for a finance professional who is experienced with standard costing and enjoys partnering with operations and influencing business performance through data-driven insights.

You will bring:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
• CA, CPA or QBE qualified
• Experience within manufacturing, engineering, mining services or heavy industry environments
• Strong product costing and manufacturing cost accounting experience
• Experience with budgeting and forecasting
• Proven manufacturing variance analysis capability
• Strong Excel and ERP systems experience
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Continuous improvement mindset and commercial acumen
