Databricks AI Engineer

DWS are seeking a highly capable Databricks AI Engineer to design, build and support enterprise-grade data solutions on a modern cloud data platform.

You will be building the intelligence layer of the Databricks Lakehouse. Which means shipping production features inside products like Genie (the natural language data querying engine behind AI/BI Dashboards), Databricks Assistant (the AI copilot embedded in notebooks and SQL editors), and compound AI agent systems orchestrated on Lakehouse.

Salary : up to $230,000 pkg (inc super) depending on experience

Essential skills and experience

• Very strong knowledge of Databricks architecture and core services
• Expert level Python & SQL skills
• Demonstrated experience of machine learning engineering experience
• Strong understanding of statistics
• Experience developing AI/ML systems at scale in production
• ML modeling beyond standard libraries
• Strong coding and software engineering skills
• Familiarity with software engineering principles (testing, code reviews, deployment)
• Mathematical modeling beyond ML
• Problem decomposition for complex requirements
• Designing and implementing LLM-enabled solutions
• Data preparation and feature engineering
• Model development workflow (evaluation, hyperparameter tuning, AutoML)
• Model deployment strategies (batch, pipeline, real-time)
• MLOps principles and architectures
• Knowledge of fundamental concepts of regression and classification methods
• Knowledge of fundamental machine learning models
• Knowledge of the model lifecycle, MLflow components,
