Financial Controller

NSW State Government
Location: Parramatta/Hybrid
Rate: $800 per day + super
Contract until: 30 June 2026

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain fit for purpose accounting and NSW Treasury compliance policies to facilitate accurate financial reporting and business financial decisions.
Develop processes, controls and reporting requirements to facilitate departmental compliance with relevant NSW Treasury accounting and compliance policies.
Develop and maintain guidelines and resources to enable appropriate accounting and NSW Treasury policy application.
Drive processes to obtain and document evidence of the department's compliance with relevant NSW Treasury policies, and completion of compliance reporting to meet NSW Treasury policy requirements.
Drive continuous improvement of policies, procedures, guidelines, controls and reporting processes to suit the needs of the department, and to reflect new or modified accounting standards and NSW Treasury accounting policies.
Manage the provision of strategic oversight and monitoring to identify gaps, issues and risks across the department in relation to internal controls over financial information.

Essential Skills & Experience:

Knowledge and experience in applying Australian accounting standards and NSW Treasury accounting and compliance policies and requirements.
Extensive experience leading accounting policy and resource development, technical accounting, internal controls and process improvement activities in a large complex organisation.
Experience with financial accounting risk identification and implementation of fit for purpose financial governance, accounting policy, processes and controls.
CA/CPA Qualified
