Front End Developer React + TypeScript

DWS is seeking an experienced Front End Developer (React / TypeScript )
to join a major application and platform modernisation initiative, delivered as part of a large-scale enterprise digital transformation program. Working closely with delivery squads, you will design, build, and maintain modern, scalable front-end solutions using React and TypeScript , contributing to high-quality, performant user experiences across complex digital platforms.

Type : Max Term
Length : Initially up to 6 months, extensions possible
Start : Immediate (max 2 weeks' notice)
Location : Melbourne CBD
Style : Hybrid, 2/3 days in the office
Rate : up to $200,000 (inc super) depending on experience

Skills and Experience: Essential:

• Strong experience in software development with strong front-end focus
• Solid hands-on experience with JavaScript (ES6+) and TypeScript, building applications using React (Hooks, Saga or similar)
• Strong knowledge of modern web technologies including HTML5 and CSS3
• Experience with CSS frameworks and approaches such as Styled Components, Bootstrap or Foundation
• Strong understanding of accessibility, performance, and front-end security best practices
• Experience designing React applications using effective layout and state management patterns
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern developer tooling
• Hands-on experience with Docker and NGINX
• Front-end testing experience using tools such as Jest and/or Cypress
• Experience working with cloud platforms, ideally AWS
• Solid understanding of RESTful APIs (GraphQL exposure desirable) and microservices-based architectures
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, well-documented code

Desirable:

• Experience in banking or financial services environments
• Additional front-end testing tools (e.g. Selenium, Mocha/Chai)
• Exposure to AI-assisted development tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Cursor AI)
• Experience working in Agile (Scrum) delivery environments
• Relevant tertiary qualifications or industry certifications

Responsibilities:

• Work across multiple delivery squads, providing guidance through the technical development lifecycle
• Design, develop, review, and maintain React-based front-end applications across production and pre-release environments
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and delivery teams to align with broader technical direction
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, and collaborative design sessions
• Contribute to CI/CD and DevOps practices to support reliable and frequent releases
• Ensure robust coding standards, strong test coverage, and effective debugging
• Make component-level architectural and technical decisions within agreed solution frameworks
• Conduct peer code reviews and constructively challenge design and implementation decisions
