Our client, a large Government organisation are seeking an Infrastructure / Facilities Technician to join their team. 

This role will assist in the management of data centres, communications rooms and all associated infrastructure, ensuring the timely response and rectification work of all activities.

Key Responsibilities: 

1. Manage the data centres and communications facilities infrastructure.

2. Assist with the design and implementation of data centres, communications rooms and the ICT infrastructure supporting these environments.

3. Manage and maintain the uninterruptible power supply (UPS) fleet, air conditioning and generators relating to communications rooms.

4. Undertake daily operational and environmental checks of data centres and ICT facilities including maintaining team procedural documentation.

5. Manage and assist with all activities associated with backup and recovery procedures including storage media management.

Selection Criteria:

1.      Experience of data centre and communications ICT infrastructure including security and environmental controls, power, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) units, generators, air conditioning and structured data cabling.

2.      Demonstrated knowledge in the design and implementation of data centres, communications rooms and ICT infrastructure.

3.      Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of backup and data recovery procedures including storage media management.

Desirable criteria: 

1. Experience in using data centre infrastructure management (DCIM), systems monitoring and/or data backup and restoration products would be advantageous but not essential.
   


2. Knowledge of the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework would be desirable.
