Our Australian region, boasts a fleet of over 30 vessels across multiple ports along the East Coast, with a significant presence in PNG. We are seeking applications from enthusiastic and dedicated First Nations Peoples who are interested in exploring a rewarding career in the maritime industry.
This Indigenous Traineeship is an opportunity for motivated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates to develop the skills required to have a successful career within the maritime industry. As a Trainee, over a 12 month period you will complete a Certificate II in Maritime Operations (Coxswain Grade 1 Near Coastal), leading to potential long term employment within the company and/or, further studies and qualifications.
Study Requirements:
Throughout the 12-month trainee program, you will complete a Certificate II in Maritime Operations (Coxswain Grade 1 Near Coastal) through a combination of formal training with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and practical on the job experience
Traineeship Outcome:
Subject to assessment and sea-time requirements by AMSA, this qualification will allow you to work as a GPH (General Purpose Hand/Deckhand). This is an entry level qualification, additional qualifications would be required if you would like to command a vessel or work your way up to Ship Master.
