Amber is an entirely new way of thinking about buying, banking and selling energy – where home energy technology works to put money back in customers’ pockets and accelerate the renewable energy transition. Amber for Batteries **unlocks more value for homeowners with batteries, driving down their energy bills and their payback periods. By storing energy when it’s cheap and exporting it to the grid for wholesale feed-in rates of up to $19/kWh, Amber’s software is completely changing the economics of home batteries and accelerating the energy transition.
Amber for EVs is our EV smart charging solution that helps EV owners save on their charging costs by using more cheap, renewable energy - whether that’s their own excess solar energy, or renewable energy that’s abundant in the grid. In 2025, we are kicking off development of our game-changing vehicle-to-grid technology.

Want to help improve the environment by shifting Australia and the world’s energy usage towards renewables?
As an Operations Specialist, you’ll be at the heart of Amber’s billing and collections operations -making sure bills are accurate, payments are collected, and credits and concessions are applied correctly. We live in the details of our billing system: spotting issues, fixing them fast, and putting measures in place to stop them from happening again.
This is a hands-on role in a small, supportive team that thrives on problem-solving, collaboration, and delivering measurable results.
This is a full time, permanent role with standard working hours of Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm.
🔋Operations Specialist Responsibilities
- Review, correct, and release customer bills to ensure accurate and timely invoicing
- Manage exceptions in the collections cycle to maintain compliance and effective processes
- Oversee the dunning queue to ensure timely follow-up on overdue accounts
- Conduct disconnection calls and manage related activities
- Process customer credits and concessions accurately and promptly
- Contact customers to collect payments and establish payment plans where required
- Support additional BAU operations activities to meet business needs
🎯 Key Requirements
- At Amber, we want to hire self-starters who are eager to learn and are comfortable working in a changing environment. Some of the key traits we are looking for in this role:
- You’re a people person - you love both working with people and helping people
- You wield strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- You have experience in BAU operational processes within a similar environment
- You have excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- You have the ability to work to deadlines and manage competing priorities effectively
- You’re familiar with Customer Experience and/or Operations workflows
- You’re adaptable - you will be working in a fast-paced and changing environment and work well with ambiguity
🎯 Minimum Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping
- Ability to follow structured processes while also thinking critically to solve problems
- Competency and willingness to speak directly with customers over the phone
- A solid base of IT competence with experience with Microsoft Office Suite

- Experience working in fast-paced organisations
- Passion for technology, energy or the environment
- Experience in the energy sector

$60,000 - $80,000 a year
Salary range is quoted excluding superannuation. All full time roles at Amber include employee stock options over and above the base salary and superannuation.
We’ve embraced a flexible work-from-home culture with the majority of the team spending a few days a week catching up at our office in the CBD when possible. We expect our team to remain Melbourne-based and maintain flexibility between the office and WFH.

Our process will generally be as follows:
- A screening interview with our Talent team
- An interview held by the Squad Lead of the Operations team, alongside one of the Senior Operations Specialists
- A final interview with our Director of Operations and another Senior Specialist from the team
