Senior Finance Business Partner - Government | Sydney | 6-Month Contract (View to Extend/Permanent)

The Opportunity
We are partnering with a well-established government department in Sydney seeking a Senior Finance Business Partner to join on an initial 6-month contract. This role offers strong potential for extension and the opportunity to transition into a permanent position.

The Role
Reporting into senior leadership, you will act as a trusted advisor to key stakeholders, driving financial insight, performance, and decision-making across the business. You will lead a small team and play a key role in shaping financial strategy within a complex and evolving environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with senior stakeholders to provide commercial and strategic financial advice
• Lead, mentor, and develop a small team, fostering a high-performance culture
• Deliver insightful analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
• Support key business initiatives, identifying risks and opportunities
• Drive continuous improvement across financial processes and systems
• Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights

About You

• Proven experience in a Finance Business Partnering role
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to develop teams
• Naturally curious mindset with a proactive and problem-solving approach
• Experience within government or similarly complex organisations highly regarded
