SMSF Accountant

A well-established public practice accounting firm in Hawthorn is seeking an experienced SMSF Accountant / SMSF Specialist to join their growing superannuation team. This role offers strong structure, quality SMSF clients and genuine long-term career development.

The Role
You will manage an end-to-end portfolio of Self-Managed Superannuation Funds (SMSFs), working closely with senior accountants and partners.
Key responsibilities include:

• Preparation of SMSF financial statements and annual returns
• SMSF compliance in line with ATO and superannuation legislation
• Managing pension and accumulation phase funds
• Processing contributions, rollovers and member balances
• Liaising with SMSF auditors, clients and internal stakeholders
• Responding to technical SMSF and superannuation queries
• Meeting compliance deadlines and maintaining high-quality work standards

About You

• Previous experience in an SMSF Accountant or SMSF-focused role within public practice
• Strong knowledge of SMSF compliance and superannuation legislation
• Experience with BGL and/or Class Super (highly regarded)
• Exposure to Xero preferred
• Strong attention to detail and time management skills
• Confident communicator with a professional, client-focused approach
