Job Description - Accountant - Hiring Immediately

The GAMURS Group is a world-leading esports, gaming, and entertainment media network.  GAMURS Group is seeking a capable and talented Accountant to join our team. This is a full-time role based in the GAMURS Sydney office, with support for flexible working arrangements. 

The Accountant position is a newly created role that reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The successful candidate will be an integral part of the team responsible for all financial aspects of GAMURS Group's operations. The position will play a key role in process improvement; focusing on building the financial processes, controls and systems which will lay the foundation for further successful growth at GAMURS Group.

This role joins the business at an exciting time; GAMURS has a proven track record of profitable growth, and, has ambitious plans to continue this trajectory to redefine gaming and entertainment media. As GAMURS Group grows, the Accountant will have the opportunity to grow with the business based on demonstrated competence.

Role and Responsibilities:

The Accountant's responsibilities are made up of 7 Key Result Areas :

  1. Financial Accounting
  2. Management Reporting
  3. Treasury Management and Reporting
  4. Tax Compliance (Income Tax, GST and FBT)
  5. Statutory Reporting
  6. Systems and Procedures
  7. Ad-hoc transactional accounting and advisory support

1. Financial Accounting:

  • Responsible for the processing and accounting of all routine and ad hoc journals for GAMURS (examples of routine journals include but are not limited to monthly payroll journals, standing journals, monthly expense accruals & ad hoc journals)
  • Responsible for the completion of monthly reconciliations and follow up / resolution of any issues
  • Intercompany reconciliations & confirmations with foreign companies
  • Group consolidation

2. Management Reporting:

  • Prepare monthly profit and loss management accounts for GAMURS Group, both at a company and a consolidated level
  • Preparation and analysis of responsibility reports for departments (detailing variances to budget and forecasts on a monthly basis). Review of these reports with department heads and appropriate staff
  • Assist in preparation of annual budget and rolling reforecast of revenue and costs

3.  Treasury Management and Reporting:

  • Daily cash monitoring & forecasting cash requirements
  • Prepare cashflow reporting

4. Tax Compliance (Income Tax, GST and FBT):

  • Prepare monthly BAS submission
  • Prepare quarterly PAYG calculations
  • Prepare annual FBT return
  • Assist in the collation of information required for the annual tax return preparation

5. Statutory Reporting

6. Systems and Procedures:

  • Identify opportunities to improve current systems and procedures
  • Participation where required in systems and procedures implementation (roll out new finance system)

7 . Ad-hoc transactional accounting and advisory support:

  • Accounting for acquisitions and disposals
  • Ad-hoc financial analysis and modelling / assistance as required by management

Required Experience:

  • Qualified CPA or equivalent qualification
  • 3+ years in a similar role
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications
  • Sound understanding of accounting principles
  • Computer Skills – Excel proficient, G-Suite, Xero
