Job Description - Finance and operations manager

Finance and Operations Manager

This professional services firm is part of a larger group and has been operating for over twenty years. They have a loyal customer base and have growth plans in place to more than double their business. They are now seeking an experienced Finance and Operations Manager to join their team.

Reporting to the CFO, this role will partner closely with the Executive Team to help develop process and systems to ensure the business is well equipped to support growth objectives. This is a very broad Finance and Operational management role that also encompasses People & Culture accountability, so we are seeking an all-rounder who enjoys being part of a small yet growing team and brings energy and enthusiasm in helping and supporting others to achieve business objectives.

Key Responsibilities will include:

Finance:

  • Managing accounts payable including data entry, following up queries, uploading supplier invoices and fixed asset movements
  • Processing and overseeing the payroll & STP lodgements l
  • Managing employee details and processing end of financial year group summaries
  • Preparing monthly and quarterly BAS & PAYG, and yearly GST reconciliation
  • Help manage the transition to automated daily banking and credit card payments
  • Support the year end audit process, including journals, tax schedules and cash management

Operations:

  • Support the executive team in delivering continued strong company growth, business continuity planning, monitoring business success factors and reviewing internal policies and procedures
  • Partner with other Managers to provide finance/business and operational support
  • Ensure delivery of business objectives from end-to-end within set timeframes
  • Negotiate favourable terms with relevant suppliers
  • Support auditing procedures and the management of legal matters

Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance matters are assessed, communicated and operationalised
  • Produce reports, communications and taking follow up action on various compliance reporting requirements

People and Culture:

  • Develop new initiatives to enhance the employee experience
  • Implement strategies to build high performance teams
  • Help draft position descriptions, employment contracts and letters
  • Update and communicate and operationalising policies in line with business requirements and relevant legislation
  • Manage new starter onboarding including coordinating onboarding plans and completion of forms
  • Manage the delivery of staff training and supporting recruitment, learning, career pathway and culture initiatives
  • Ensure all employee data, records and governance matters are always maintained up to date

About You:  

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Finance and/or Commerce
  • CA or CPA qualified
  • At least 5 years plus of relevant experience in either financial and/or management accounting activities, including standard costing, general accounting, financial analysis and reporting
  • Have exceptional influencing and partnering skills to drive collaborative initiatives and propel business growth
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively, identify opportunities and be proactive
  • Strong communication and the ability to influence and engage key stakeholders
