Job Description - Hospital Aide (POOL LGH)

The team:

  • This role is suitable for applicants who would enjoy working across a variety of areas within a variety of teams on a day by day basis.
  • The Pool hospital aide is a physical role, working to strict time constraints to ensure an environment that is well prepared for people accessing the services of the Launceston General Hospital.  
  • The role is based in Pool and ongoing orientation and support is provided from within the Pool Office as well as in clinical units. The Pool Office strongly aligns with the CARE Values of the Tasmanian Health Service and requires staff members to be familiar with and practice these values.

The role:

  • Under the general supervision of the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM), the Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) or the Department Manager, Hospital Aides assist in maintaining a safe and clean environment and adequate stock supply (excluding drugs) to enable clinical staff to deliver a high standard of care to patients in the ward/unit.
  • It is expected the role will have direct contact with blood or body substances or infectious material, which needs to be considered in all tasks undertaken.

Details of Appointment

Permanent, full time shift-worker position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as you can join the team.

*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

  • Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.

Salary: $58,184 - $59,580 per annum. Our Employer 11% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

  • Salary range is in accordance with  Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  1. Current Working with Children Registration

*Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

  1. Conviction checks in the following areas:
  1. crimes of violence
  2. sex related offences
  3. serious drug offences
  4. crimes involving dishonesty
  1. Identification check
  2. Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
