Assistant Accountant

The Company

The organisation are a growing and highly regarded organisation. Offices are located in the CBD so are very easy to access by public transport from most areas of the city. You will join a friendly and supportive team on an ongoing basis for at least 8 weeks although for the right candidate, the position could become permanent. The position will be based in the office 3 days per week with 2 days working from home. Working holiday visa candidates are welcome to apply alongside those with longer term working rights.

The Role

This is a busy, varied and challenging opportunity for an Assistant Accountant to come in and take on a role which will start initially as a contract due to the quick start nature of the position. After a few months as a contractor, you may have the opportunity to become permanent if your working rights allow it. We are also open to temporary visa holders who can work on a short term basis for this opportunity:

You will work in the office 3 days per week with 2 days from home each week.

Some typical duties will involve:

• End to end accounts payable and supporting with backlog
• Bank reconciliations (multi accounts)
• Accounts receivable receipting, allocating income, reconciling accounts
• Supporting with fixed asset accounting
• Weekly reporting and management of in house system
• Inter company transaction processing
• Some BAS preparation
• Some balance sheet reconciliations

This is a quick start position commencing as early as late June 2024. We anticipate that this project will last a minimum of 8 weeks then there may be a permanent opening within the team to continue on in an Assistant Accountant capacity. If you are a temporary visa holder, we anticipate the assignment will last 8-12 weeks.

Your Profile

In order to be considered you must meet the following criteria:

• Strong accounts payable and general accounting experience
• Knowledge of trial balance and general ledger
• Problem solving capability
• Able to start quickly
• Happy to work in the CBD
• Strong written or verbal communication skills
