Our community is diverse and is rapidly growing. The inaugural pregnancy connect medical lead position provides leadership and clinical expertise with the Tiered Perinatal Network. The medical lead will work collaboratively with the midwifery pregnancy connect coordinators, maternity coleads and individual facilities. The Pregnancy Connect Medical Lead Is Responsible For:

  • ensuring that timely and expert clinical advice is always available within the TPN, particularly in time critical situations (including for maternal transfers)
  • establishing and ensuring clinical outreach models of care are available, including virtual care
  • supporting and building capabilities of regional and rural maternity care providers
  • participating in quality and safety activities, including case review, data analysis and reporting.
What You'll Be Doing The Pregnancy Connect Medical Lead provides leadership and clinical expertise within their tiered perinatal network (TPN), working collaboratively with the Pregnancy Connect Coordinators, Maternity Co-leads and individual facilities within the Local Health District and TPN to support implementation of all aspects of Pregnancy Connect. The Pregnancy Connect Medical Lead Is Responsible For:
  • Ensuring that timely and expert clinical advice is always available within the TPN.
  • Establishing and ensuring clinical outreach models of care are available, including virtual care
  • Supporting and building capabilities of regional and rural maternity care providers
  • Participating in quality and safety activities, including case review, data analysis and reporting.
This care will be provided within the clinical privileges granted by the CE on the advice of the SWSLHD Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee.   • Current medical practitioner, registered, or eligible for registration, with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellow of the RANZCOG and/or other specialist recognition as provided under the Staff Specialists (State) Award.
  • Demonstrated current clinical expertise in the provision of maternity care practice of a high standard and ability to adapt clinical practice in accordance with contemporary evidence based best practice
  • Comprehensive and demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Tiered Perinatal Networks and outside of the network, as needed.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
  • Demonstrated participation in teaching and training at undergraduate and/or post graduate level, including supervision of junior medical staff
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing self-education and development, including evidence of participation in continuing medical education/ continuing professional development.
  • Demonstrated ability to comply with the service objectives of a public health organisation, including the provision of services to the local community, effective utilisation of resources, and preparedness to participate in the provision of health services at an LHD level.
  • Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with other staff and practitioners and in a multidisciplinary health care team.
