VOCAT provides financial assistance to victims of crime committed in Victoria. VOCAT aims to assist victims of crime in their recovery by providing an accessible and empathetic service for those who require financial support.
Your new role
- Provide administrative support to Tribunal Officers and to VOCAT more broadly ensuring that applications for assistance are ready to be processed.
- As a Deputy Registrar of the Tribunal, perform administrative and statutory functions relating to the day-to-day operations of the Tribunal, under limited direction.
- Perform functions under the Victims of Crime Assistance Act 1996 as delegated by the Chief Magistrate
- Provide information and authoritative advice on court and tribunal procedures and practices, including applying legislation relating to VOCAT, to relevant stakeholders including legal practitioners, police, government agencies, clients and the general public.
What you'll need to succeed
- Legal experience or previously / currently completing legal studies are required for this role.
Writes in a clear, logical and grammatically correct manner.
Explains and demonstrates work practices and procedures in support of team members.
Provides objective, frank and fearless advice within the organisation
- Assists clients solve service issues by suggesting actions or alternative processes
