About the Role
Administrative and Events Officer (Education and Outreach) at OPTIMA, based in the School of Mathematics and Statistics at The University of Melbourne, plays a key role in promoting the Centre’s education and outreach initiatives.
The officer will collaborate with the Business and Operations Manager to deliver educational programs and enhance the Centre’s visibility across schools, government, industry, and the broader community. This role involves organising Centre events. This position is integral to connecting OPTIMA’s world-class research in industrial optimisation with diverse external audiences.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. OPTIMA is based at the University of Melbourne in Parkville, with a second node at Monash University in Clayton. OPTIMA conducts world-class research and provides training for research students working in industrial optimisation. The research program focuses on model-based and black-box optimisation methodologies relevant to a broad range of industry partner optimisation challenges. Research is conducted using a multidisciplinary approach, drawing from techniques developed in mathematics, computer science, statistics, engineering, and economics.
