The Higher Courts are seeking a motivated and capable individual to fulfil the role of Criminal Circuit Coordinator for the Supreme Court and District Court of South Australia.

Located in Adelaide CBD, the position plays a crucial role in the administration of justice and is responsible for the coordination of criminal circuit trials in South Australia.
The role has a high level of accountability and provides daily challenges in an exciting dynamic team environment.

What you will do:

  • Collaborate with the Deputy Registrar, Higher Courts Listings and judiciary in the management of the criminal circuit list.
  • Attend as in-court support for court hearings including capturing outcomes of hearings.
  • Manage the Higher Courts circuit report for the state of South Australia.
  • Have daily contact with the judiciary and members of the legal profession.
  • Produce and maintain statistical reports related to circuit outcomes.
  • Triage incoming correspondence for criminal trial matters to determine the action.
  • Supervise, support and develop members within the Listings & Outcomes team.
  • Process court lodgements and provide a high-level data entry service.

  • Be self-driven and have a flexible approach to work, with the proven ability to work autonomously whilst dealing with high volumes of work and competing priorities.
  • Possess personal maturity, resilience, confidence and appropriate demeanour to perform functions in court.
  • Be proficient in a variety of IT software and hardware, in a dynamic environment.
  • Possess well developed communication skills, with the ability to write clearly and concisely and to communicate with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Have the proven ability to effectively build positive relationships with team members and work effectively as part of a team and take direction from leaders.
  • Possess natural leadership and the ability to effectively manage, supervise, support and develop others in the team. Possess high level attention to detail, time management and organisational skills.

Special Conditions:

  • This is a short-term contract for up to 6 months, with the possibility of being extended beyond this.
  • Appointment is under the Courts Administration Act 1993. Terms and conditions of employment are governed by the Public Sector Act 2009.
  • As a justice agency, the CAA may receive details of spent convictions as part of any Criminal History Screening and use this information in the selection process.
  • Appointment is dependent upon a current National Police Certificate that the CAA finds satisfactory.
  • Appointees may be directed to disclose their COVID-19 vaccination status.

ASO4 ($75,430 - $79,070 per annum)
