Job Description - HR Advisory Officer

The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced, skilled and hands-on HR Advisory Officer to lead our HR administration team and support our Managers in HR matters. Working as an integral part of the team, the role is responsible for leading the recruitment and onboarding of staff, administration of employment documentation, leading a small team of HR Administrators, overseeing exit practices in conjunction with the Management team, and will act in a support capacity on key HR projects as required.

This role is a 6-month fixed-term contract to fill the day-to-day duties of an employee who will be on maternity leave. The days and hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8am to 4:30pm.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Full employee life-cycle HR generalist activities and administration from pre-employment screenings, contract generation and candidate onboarding, position management and employee exits.
  • Managing HR Inbox, reviewing, responding and delegating as necessary
  • Creation of employment contracts and other HR related legal documentation.
  • Lead, oversee and assist manage the HR administration team.
  • Oversight and coordination of preparing reports and maintaining employee records.
  • Lead and manage the probation review and performance management processes.
  • Assist manage the Staff Health and Wellbeing initiatives in conjunction with the committee.
  • Dealing with workplace relations issues such as complaints, conflicts, grievances and misconduct in conjunction with the Management team.
  • Reviewing employment and working conditions to ensure legal compliance.
  • Working on the Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA) with the Head of Finance and Operations.

Keys Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

  • Valid blue card (working with children)
  • HR experience essential (preferably in a school environment).
  • Ability to work individually as well as part of a team.
  • Qualifications or equivalent experience in HR or Business related fields.
  • In-depth knowledge of HR principles, practices, and regulations, with a proven track record of developing and implementing effective HR programs and initiatives.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to achieve goals and drive results.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence staff at all levels of the organisation.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on driving continuous improvement and innovation in HR processes and practices.
  • TASS software experience will be highly regarded however is not essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
