The Hatter & the Hare is a popular 160-seat café in Bayswater, VIC. It is a very busy café serving breakfast and lunch 7 days a week, with a patisserie producing over a hundred varieties of pastries and cakes on a daily basis.
HOURS & BENEFITS:
38 hours per week with additional reasonable paid overtime
Overtime pay rates
Flexible days of work (weekdays and weekends)

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Chef De Partie plays important roles in our busy kitchen operations as they work with the Head Chef in daily preparation of high-quality food served to our customers. This job requires the applicants to work on the weekends. CDP will also:
o Dutifully prepare food before and after cooking to meet The Hatter and the Hare standards.
o Make sure that everything in the kitchen is in order from food preparation up to keeping the kitchen in a clean and orderly state.
o Prepare dishes according to the recipes prepared by the Head Chef, following all steps and procedures to the letter in order to keep the high quality of food served to customers.
o Train junior staff.
We are looking for candidates who possess the following skills:
o A minimum of Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery.
o A true passion for hospitality and be committed to delivering products of the highest quality.
o The availability to work a flexible roster including weekends.
o Food safety certifications.
o Strong knowledge of kitchen hygiene practices and OH&S standards.
o Strong communication skills and enjoy working and contributing in a team environment.
o Ability to build and maintain effective relationships.
o The experience to use correct techniques and follow procedures and recipes when preparing and cooking menu items.
o Have excellent attention to detail.
o Outstanding time management during preparation and service periods.
o A calm and composed demeanour.
o Excellent knowledge and experience in basic food preparation techniques and styles
o A strong background in utilising fresh and local ingredients
o A professional attitude in the kitchen at all time
o The ability to persevere and succeed in a fast-paced environment
o Have the proper visas or permits to work in Australia
Experience:
2-3 years previous experience in a similar role/industry
