Our practice, Michelle Barratt Psychology was established in 2012.  Over the years, we have assisted many clients with their mental health needs; including  adolescents, couples and families. 

We practice in two locations: Toowong, minutes out of Brisbane City Centre and Wynnum West, to the east of the city.  We have Psychologists who practice either in one clinic or across both locations.

We have worked very hard over the years to develop systems  within the practice that endeavours to make administration processes supportive and efficient which allows you the psychologist more time on the treatment care of your clients. We value servicing our clients' unique, and individual needs as well as making our environment as welcoming and as open as possible. Supporting the tireless work of our Psychologists, we prioritise accommodating flexible schedules that will help in advancing your professional career as well as be available for your family.

Our clinic supports a wide range or presentations;from depression, anxiety and stress management to Bipolar, BPD and ADHD.  We do however, have a strong focus on supporting adolescents and their parents/family, managing emotional dysregulation and improving healthy communication through teaching skills of DBT, Schema Therapy and CBT. these interventions uphold the integral value of the Practitioners within the organisation that aspires to build healthier relationships and achieve their goals throughout the lifespan of the individual. Overall, your experience in the Practice will likely be that of a Health Practitioner supported by a Community, where from the moment Admin receives your client, they will manage the intricate care of their intake to their journey in your office where you will be able to assess the unique treatment of your clients.

Over the course of your career with us, you will be able to provide psychological therapy to clients with a wide range of needs that are within your ethical capacity, to children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families; depending on your area of expertise of course.  However, there will likely be many areas of opportunity for you to grow, learn and develop. About the Role:Contractor Role or Salaried Role

We offer both contract and salary depending on your experience. We as a practice are looking for psychologists from all around Australia and New Zealand, as well as recent graduatesand Clinical registrars.

We are open to discussing the number of days you would be interested in working and are flexible with hours around your personal schedule.

Essential Criteria

Full Registration: Psychologists with relevant qualifications (Current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)).

Registration with Medicare:  Registration with, or eligible to be registered with Medicare to provide services under the Medicare Scheme.

Blue Card:  Hold or be eligible to receive a current Blue Card

Insurance:  Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurance.

Report/Letter Writing:  Demonstrated effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills and outstanding organisational skills.

Interpersonal Skills:  Experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families in clinical settings.

Intervention Delivery:  Understanding of and demonstrated commitment to providing ethical, and evidence-based practice to your area of expertise. 

Best Practice:  To provide compassionate clinical care within ‘psychology’s’ best practice professional boundaries, and a willingness to work within the ethical practice of Michelle Barratt Psychology and the Practice’s procedures to support staff and clients.

As a boutique Psychology practice, Michelle Barratt Psychology is looking for a psychologist that is fundamentally passionate about life and mental health. We are looking for a candidate that is capable of being simultaneously empathetic, adaptable and professional. 

We are looking for someone who will be dedicated in supporting their clients develop crucial coping strategies and skills that will maintain and build high self-esteem/resilience in order they apply effective problem solving skills and know how to embrace their strengths as well as their limitations.

The desired candidate will have a professional and caring approach to their clients, work, and to those who work around them.

They will approach their work with enthusiasm and confidence. They will possess good time-management and organisational skills.

The chosen candidate will be able to facilitate engagement with clients, families and other professionals that reflect the values of Michelle Barratt Psychology, as well as the ethical practice values of the APS and/or AHPRA.

Ideally we are looking for a psychologist to work 2-4 days over one or both practices.
