The opportunity:
We are seeking a Maritime Engineer to join our team in Sydney to assist with a growing pipeline of work. Working closely with our local, highly regarded Principal Maritime Engineer you will be an integral part of the team delivering on a broad range of interesting marine projects.
You will be responsible for:
- Analysis and designing of a broad range of maritime structures utilising suitable software, ensuring compliance with required standards, and in a range of structural materials
- Design of maritime structures from concept through to completion
- Construction phases services for maritime structures including site inspections, shop drawing reviews, piling record reviews and re4sponses to RFIs
- Undertaking condition assessments and preparing condition reports on maritime structures
- Preparing remediation works designs and specifications for maritime structures
- Liaising with clients, project managers, contractors, and our internal staff (other engineers and drafters)
With our support and training you will work towards:
- Being the point of contact for a range of our clients
- Preparing (or assisting in the preparation of) fee proposals for new projects
- Managing projects including technical, deliverables and financial
To be successful in this role, you are encouraged to have:
- Civil or structural bachelor’s degree qualification – recognised by Engineers Australia if an overseas qualification.
- 5 – 10 years of relevant experience in maritime structures
- Ability to undertake enclosed water wave climate assessments would be considered an advantage but is not a requirement
- Ability to calculate wave loading on structures
- Experience in undertaking condition assessments in accordance with WSCAM or other reporting formats would be considered an advantage but is not a requirement
- Experience working with a broad range of clients from the government and private sectors
- Ability to work on local and interstate projects with local and interstate teams
Experience with some of the following would highly regarded:
- Wharves, jetties and pedestrian boardwalks
- Berthing and mooring structures including dolphins and fenders
- Seawalls, slipways, boat lift cradles and boat ramps
- Hardstands
- Marinas (including layout and access ramps)
- Floating structures (stability design, flotation design and structural design)
Additionally, familiarity with some of the flowing standards would also be highly regarded:
- AS3962 – Guidelines for design of marinas
- AS4997 – Guidelines for design of maritime structures
- Relevant structural design standards – loading codes, piling, concrete, steel, aluminium, and timber
- PIANC codes
- BS6349 – British standard for maritime works
- Design of FRP members
